I'm sick of everything, I can't get out of bed
Just lay here, someone pull me out
I'm tired of these thoughts, the world moves outside
Feel like a ghost, rejected by the living

Everybody is so impressed with the things theY say
I take a look at what a joke it is and then lock myself away

Come on ego you fool, I see your apparition in the doorway
Beckoning me, promising to be here
When the planet lets me down, you'll still be around

Unconscious and awake, miscounting all the sheep
Too late for a peaceful night of sleep
A nightmare comes and goes, I can't remember it
It's sinking, the holes are filling my ship

Everybody is laughing at the man out on the blow
I'm learning now that nothing in common
Is better than finding out

Come on ego you fool, I see your apparition in the doorway
Beckoning me, promising to be here
When the planet lets me down, you'll still be around

I'm sick of everything,
I can't get out of bed just lay here like I'm dead

I disagree with "imp" i think the protagonist is depressed and feels like he has nothing in common with anyone anymore. he's tired of feeling alone and rejected, but at the same time he doesn't think the people rejecting him are that great either. in fact theyre almost a joke, so why is he so scared of being rejected by people who are jokes?? he doesn't want his ego bruised by the rejection and feels like a ghost of who he is, and by locking himself away from society he's letting the ghost of himself win, rather than risking rejection out in the world. he's only getting worse with time locked alone in his room, depression is setting in, he can't sleep but he doesn't feel awake and the only sleep he does get is unrestful and full of nightmares. he feels as though he's drowning in his self pity and people are just laughing about the fact that he has to remove himself from society after being rejected by the crowds. the best line of the song is "I'm learning now that nothing in common is better than finding out" meaning it's better to not engage in talking to people because if he does try to socialize it usually will end in rejection and humiliation. so it's better just to assume you have nothing in common with anyone than talk to them to find out and risk rejection. even though he wants to stop caring so much about fitting in, he can't deal with the blow to his ego and the song ends with him still giving up on the world.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
