I may be leaving, but it's okay
To say what you're feeling, but baby not for free
It's called direction

So many times I can see
That the way that you are is rubbing off on me
It's called direction

Did you realise it's not quite time
You look out the window, the trains keep rolling by
It's called direction

You're still in but then comes the evening
It's the best time of day, cause that's when you're on your own
It's called direction

Finding you face down I heard you say
No-one needs to know anyway
The reasons why we're late
Finding you face down I heard you say
No-one needs to know anyway
The things we did today

Holding on, but is that right?
You take me home but only on a night
It's called direction

Don't forget, we'll wait and see
They only ask because you are with me
Although we've got no direction

Finding you face down I heard you say
No-one needs to know anyway
The reasons why we're late
Finding you face down I heard you say
No-one needs to know anyway

My favourite Cribs song. Love it when the chorus kicks in.

Mixed messages as to what the song is about though.

    My Interpretation

the songs is about being christian (its called direction) direction, wev got none theres a collection of people with power, innocence that took them into darkness

let me explain the lyrics.. say what ur feeling but baby not for free (beware what you say)

the way that you are is rubbing off on me (the hidden powers cause) no one NEEDS to 'know' (but hes doing it)

(still) holding on (to IT) but is that right? (this character that we're all being) its the best time of day cause thats when ur on ur own (your forced to see this kind of truth, still in darkness though)

finally: they only ask because u are with me (the special powers guy, people know of these 'powers' subconciously, and dont know what their seing, these powers are there though.... ul see that people will come to u in the future with a great many powers, u will see wonders.... but who is he who u should look for? who told u of these things before? thats it....that NO MATTER WHAT U FIND within yourself go back and let His words, his bread, soak you, let His roots grow deep within you. you cannot serve God and mammon: 'the lamp of the body is the eye. if therefore your eye is good, your whole body is good, your whole body is of light. but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. IF THEREFORE THE LIGHT THAT IS IN YOU IS DARKNESS, HOW GREAT IS THAT DARKNESS!
(just like they say) although we've got no DIRECTION

open your heart to a song.... but not to words of the One? dont you think it will talk to you too?

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
