This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Come on
You don't need to change
A thing about you, babe
I'm telling you from where I sit
You're one of a kind
Relationships I don't know why
They never work out and they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you
Is out of his mind
Well, I've been down and I need your help
I've been feelin' sorry for myself
Don't hesitate to boost my confidence
Well, I've been lost and I need direction
I could use a little love protection
What do you say, honey? Come to my defense
I stand up for you if it's what you need
And I can take a punch, I don't mind to bleed
As long as afterwards you feel bad for me
And you give me all of your attention
I've got deep desire and it needs quenching
I think that's pretty plain for you to see
Well, enough about me and more about you
Because that'd be the gentlemanly thing to do
I hope you like your men sweet and polite
I thought I was done with telling you
But I ain't nearly halfway through
I've got a few more things
I'd like to say to you tonight
Get ready
You don't need to change
A thing about you, babe
I'm telling you from where I sit
You're one of a kind
Relationships I don't know why
They never work out and they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you
Is out of his mind, mind
You always did kinda drive me crazy
And it pissed me off 'cause I let it phase me
But I never wanted my time with you to end
Now I'm back in town for a day or two
Well, mostly I came back just to see you
I'm leavin' now but I don't want to go
You don't need to change
A thing about you, babe
I'm telling you from where I sit
You're one of a kind
Relationships I don't know why
They never work out, they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you
Is out of his mind
You don't need to change

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
"you don't need to change a thing about you babe i'm telling you from where i sit you're one of a kind"
The guy is telling the girl she's amazing. It's so cute.
"relationships i dont know why they never work out and they make you cry but the guy that says goodbye to you is out of his mind"
He probably was in a relationship with her before, and has experience on how relationships don't work out, because their's didn't. I think he's referring to himself as well as other men when he's calling them out of their mind.
"i've been down and i need your help i've been feelin' sorry for myself don't hesitate to boost my confidence"
Now he's talking about how upset he is, and he wants her to come to him.
"well i've been lost and i need direction i could use a little love protection what do you say honey come to my defense"
Ever since he left her he's been lost and he needs her back, if she'll do it.
"i stand up for you if it's what you need and i can take a punch, i don't mind to bleed as long as afterwards you feel bad for me"
He'll do anything for her, as long as she'll appreciate it later.
"you give me all of your attention i've got deep desire and it needs quenching i thing that's pretty plain for you to see"
He needs her attention again.
"well enough about me and more about you because that'd be the gentlemanly thing to do i hope you like your men sweet and polite"
He has been talking about himself this whole time, now about her.
"i thought i was done with telling you but i ain't nearly halfway through i've got a few more things id like to say to you tonight"
He's told her so many things, and so many times that he thought it had been enough. But she hasn't gotten it in her head yet, so he has more to say to her.

She used to bother him and he let it get to his head. Now he knows he shouldn't have. He should have stayed with her but he didn't.
"now i'm back in town for a day or two mostly i came back just to see you and even now, i dont want to go"
He's visiting town mostly to see if she's okay, and doesn't want to leave her again.

this is a great song. can relate to it in so many ways. think the lines i like the most are...
"You always did kinda drive me crazy And it pissed me off cuz I let it phase me But I never wanted my time with you to end
Now I'm back in town for a day or two Mostly I came back just to see you And even now, I dont want to go."
... so many times little things in relationships get to me and make me act in weird ways and i know looking back now that i shouldn't have let those little things get to me. missed out on many good relationships because of this and hopefully i won't on the one i'm in!
; )
THIS IS SO CUTE!
this is really precious
"Now I'm back in town for a day or two Mostly I came back just to see you And even now, I dont want to go"
that one hits close to home.
I love this song; my best guy friend had me download it after my boyfriend and I broke up.
I see the song as being about a guy and a girl that have been there for each other for forever. She's been through a breakup and he's consoling her and letting her know that she's perfect the way she is and letting her know that he'll be there for her and do anything she needs. He's also telling her that things have been rough for him for awhile, and that he wants her help being happy..kind of a "mutual" cheering-up lol.
I feel like the whole song is pretty platonic, but the "You always did kind of drive me crazy and it pissed me off cause I let it phase me, But I never wanted my time with you to end," is him admitting that he always has had feelings for her, but he doesn't want it to get in the way of their friendship. Gahhh this song's adorable I love it :)
wow... ;_; I LOVE IT . so amazing
Very cute. A few people have said this before, but I've never heard it in song before today
This song is amazing! Makes me think about all my past relationships.
its actually "im leaving now, i dont want to go"
no one realizes what they have, until its gone
..sorry its "BUT i dont want to go"
