"Cold as You" as written by Liz Rose and Taylor Swift....
You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'
And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
Ain't no use defending words that you will never say
And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You put up the walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there loving you, and wished them all away
And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
Ain't no use defending words that you will never say
And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You never did give a damn thing, honey
But I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you
Died for you

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Oh, every smile you fake is so condescending
Countin' all the scars you've made
Now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

General CommentI can relate to it cause there was this boy and I really liked him and I did everything for him just to reach his heart. But he seemed to never really listen and to never really care. He was so cold and although he said that he´d love me, he wasn´t true

I think this song is about a girl who is in love or maybe was in love with a boy who has never really cared.
She always sat waiting for that special day and she waited for so long that he´d say the right words to make her happy, to make her feel that this could be something.
But no matter what she was saying, no matter what she was doing, it was never enaugh and he always kept his feelings to his heart, but she couldn´t see through. She was there, she was always there and was in love with him

But this is just my opinion...
    I just love this song

General Comment"You have a way of coming easily to me"
I think this means that the guy in question is someone she feels a connection with, someone she feels comfortable around.
"And when you take, you take the very best of me"
Again, she's describing this guy. This line is pretty simple, she's saying that this guy brings out the very best of her.
"So I start a fight cause I need to feel something"
This line I can definitely relate to. She wants to get some type of emotion out of this guy she loves, even anger, so she starts a fight.
"And you do what you want cause I'm not what you wanted"
Unfortunately, I think this guy responds to her anger in a way that he doesn't care what she thinks of him. So he says some rash things, takes part in the fight.
"Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day"
I think this line means that this guy does something wayyy rash and something she wasn't expecting, and she finally sees the light. She finally sees that he doesn't really care about her and he isn't as perfect as she thought he was.
"Just walk away, ain't no use defending words that you will never say"
The words that he will never say are probably words of compliment, like "you're beautiful" and "I love you." Because he never said those words, he doesn't have to stay and say things like "Well I really DID mean it...." so he just walks away.
"And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through"
Pretty much a self-explanatory line. She thinks it through and decides....
"I've never been anywhere cold as you"
Cold as in evil, mean, insulting, stuff like that. She uses it as a metaphor. She's saying that he's the meanest person, place, or thing she has come across.
"You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there loving you and wished them all away"
Basically, I think this means that he puts up walls between him and her because he doesn't want her, but she loves him so much that she tries to get rid of them.
"And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you"
I think she is saying that this guy has the nerve to go tell everyone what happened and act like she was just a little mess, a little dreamer who was daring enough to love him,
"You never did give a damn thing honey but I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you
    (Died for you)"
This line is describing what she felt for him, how far she would have gone to win him over. Although he didn't deserve it.
"Every smile you fake is so condescending"
She's finally seeing through his pretty face and seeing what exactly is behind the smile.
Every smile you fake is so condescending
"Counting all the scars you made"
I think that with this line she is saying that she suspects that she isn't the first heart he has broken.
Well...that was my contribution. Hope it helped!

General Commentso i wrote this message to someone a long time ago, and never had the nerve to send it. i used the lyrics in the song in it, so i thought it might fit what what i believe the song is about.

"wow. that is all i have to say. what the fuck. where is my life. what am i doing. seriously. i need something to ground me. i thought that was you. i thought that you were the one who was going to change things. to make it better. to make me feel like i was worth something again. like all this time wasn't wasted. and you did. for a while. but then, you only made it worse. i am worse off now as a person than before i met you. you took me, made me believe you loved me, and left me out in the cold. why? because i let you. i let you into that place that no one has ever been. i don't love. i thought i could. i was on my way to it. what you told me and made me believe and how you acted and what you did made me think i could love someone like you. was i ever wrong. i was wrong about everything i felt for you. i was wrong about the way you made me feel. i was wrong about who i thought you were. i was wrong about your heart being broken. i thought i could mend it. you told me i reminded you of her. you told me i was beautiful and worth something. you told me you cared. all lies. every last breath was a lie. you were a beautiful liar. and i fell for it. i fell hard. the way you touched me. the way you looked at me. the way you felt laying next to me. the way we were. not so much anymore. the way things used to be. the way. you have a way of coming easily to me. and when you take, you take the very best of me. you sucked the life out of me. i'm not living anymore. i'm not alive. i'm going through the motions without any feeling. i don't feel anymore. do you know what it feels like not to feel? oh wait, of course you do. you couldn't give two shits about me. you will never again tell me i mean something to you. you did once before. twice. three times. infinity. i believed it. i believed your ugly lies because they came from such a beautiful mouth. and where have they gotten me? back a place i have never wanted to be again. a place that no one should ever be. a place that is dark and alone. you took me down with you. you're not worth anything. you're not worth my tears. you're not worth my heartache. counting all the scars you made. not scars. scabs. scabs heal and become beautiful again. and that's what i will do. i will heal and become beautiful again. right now, i'm not worth it. i'm not sorry and i don't apologize. that's what you did to me. and i am taking it out on other people that don't deserve it. when she said you sucked the life out of me, i cried. i cried because it's my fault. i let you in. you came in and trashed my heart. then left for her. the ugly, worthless, piece of shit wench you call baby. you used to call me that. baby. fuck you baby. liar. a beautiful liar. you made me believe i could help you heal. you made me believe i was the one who could save you. well, save this, sweetheart."

sorry if it seems a little angry, but this was raw emotion, almost to the point of hatred for a certain jerk. i never got the nerve to send it, but it did help me heal.

General Commenti can totaly relate to this song.
i loved this guy and he said he loved me.but every time i saw him i felt so happy but always i wasnt completely happy when i left. i always thought there was something missing but i wasnt sure about it. and one day i saw him flirting with all these other girls and then his friends told me that he had a girlfriend at his school. i went home and cried. for a few weeks after that he just ignored me completely.
now he is dating my best friend and im not over him yet and he knows that and so does by best friend.
now im afraid that he will do the same thing to my best friend. he is one of my best friends and so i get all of the details of their dates which just hurts more.
and now that im sitting here thinking it through, ive never been anywhere cold as him

General CommentIn my opinion, this song is about a girl who gave her all to a guy and loved him with all her heart when he never really felt the same. He never really took what they had seriously, he just used her and "took the very best of her" when it was convenient, and then left her to pick up the pieces. But she always went back to him, because he "had a way of coming easily" to her. But as she is writing this song, she realizes that he never really cared about her and just how cold he really was all along, even though she wanted to believe with all her heart he wasn't. This is a reflection of the relationship, a sort of coming to terms for her.

General CommentOkay so this is my favorite song ever....out of all the break up songs ive ever hear this is the one that i feel i can relate to the most.

This song is clearly about a heartbroken girl who has come to the realization that the boy she loved was only using her. I decided to break down the song by each stanza to give better insight.

You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight cause I need to feel something
And you do what you want cause I'm not what you wanted

When she says "you have a way of coming easily to me" she means that it is so natural for her to embrace and love him unconditionally.

"And When You Take, you take the very best of me" simply means that she gives him all of her and makes sure that she always gives the best of her in all aspects of the relationship.

"So I start a fight cause I need to feel something"- i absolutely love this line. what she means here is that she will find things to fight about to evoke some sort of emotion from him. She is in some way substituting and comparing his anger to his love for her. she feels that if she can evoke some sort of emotion from him than that means he cares and her mind can be eased.

"And you do what you want cause I'm not what you wanted" This line she is saying that in the relationship he does what he wants with no consideration of her feelings. He does this because he truly doesn't care for her he just enjoys the fact that someone cares for him. He truly doesn't want to be with her.

    [Chorus:]

Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away, no use defending words that you will never say
And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

"Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day" This line simply means the end of their relationship. She was naiive in thinking it was perfect so she was in a sense blind sided by the break up.

"Just walk away, no use defending words that you will never say" This line is similar to Adele's Best For last when she says "and you'll say all of the right things without a clue, and you'll save the best for last like im the one for you". These two lines are similar because in the song "cold as you" she is waiting for him to tell her that he loves her and he wants to be with her but deep down she knows thats not how he feels. Typically in breakups people lie when it comes to their reason why they do not want to be with that person anymore. In a way she hoped that he would tell her that he did love her during their relationship to give her some closure, but all he gives her is lies after lies.

"And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through I've never been anywhere cold as you" I think that this line isn't solely referring to the past. when i say the past im referring to events in her life that may have left her bitter and angry. This line seems so much more deep than that. I get the sense that when she says "ive never been anywhere as cold as you" shes saying that even now with the realization of what he's done, she could never do that to anyone else in a future relationship.

You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there loving you and wished them all away
And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you

"You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray" This line simply means that he didn't invest much into the relationship. He never really shared much about himself so that they could grow close. He just never really let her in his heart.

"And I stood there loving you and wished them all away"- even though he was giving her nothing she still believed that he would come around and regardless of it all she still loved him.

"And you come away with a great little story Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you"- i absolutely love this line because it strikes so close to home. My ex boyfriend use to do this with all his past ex girlfriends. He would always brag to me about how they loved him so much and he broke their hearts while he came out unscathed. This line simply means that now that the relationship is over he has a story to tell to anybody who will listen about a girl who loved him so much but he really didn't care about. She is acknowledging the fact that he played her.

    [Repeat Chorus]

You never did give a damn thing honey but I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you
    (Died for you)

"You never did give a damn thing honey but I cried, cried for you And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you(Died for you)"- This line simply means that the relationship was nothing to him and she was nothing to him. His feelings for her could not be distinguished from a stranger he just met on the streets.

Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Every smile you fake is so condescending
Counting all the scars you made
And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

"Every smile you fake is so condescending" I think this line can be referring to both the present in the past. I think now that she knows how he truly felt about her all of the memories of them together just seem so fake and forced. Every time she thinks of him smiling during their times together it hurts her because she knows it was all pretend. I also think that this line is referring to when she sees him and he smiles it is like a slap in the face because he knows that she knows what he truly did.

"Counting all the scars you made"- That relationship just really damaged her and it really has scarred her.
