That's Old Fashioned (That's the Way Love Should Be) Lyrics
so they say that we're old fashioned
or we stroll beneath the silvery moon
and we carve our initials in the old oak tree.
That's old fashioned.
That's the way love should be.
in the booth at the ice cream parlor
where we play the nickelodeon
and we dance when we hear our favorite melody.
That's old fashioned.
That's the way love should be.
everything is moving fast.
But when it comes to love I like
what they did in the past.
so the boys say I'm old fashioned.
Let them laugh, honey I don't mind.
I've made plans for a wedding day for you and me.
That's old fashioned.
That's the way love should be.

This is my view on love. Relationships should be developed slowly. Today, people just jump into bed together as soon as they meet and it kills the spirit of romance. I guess I'm just an old soul and a hopeless romantic.

Amazing song. Great melody and use of horns in the studio production.
The song has no pretentious hidden symbolism, and no profanity. The message is as timeless as Romeo and Juliet.
Yet how prophetic the song really was. Fifty years ago, pre-texting, tweeting and e-mail, two people communicating and falling in love, and this is all that matters.
Probably the best Everly Brothers single. Ironically, this was their last big hit as the Warner Brother years were the brothers beginning of the waning of their popularity. But what beauty in the simplicity.
