Future Wars Lyrics
Crows, as the night turns its skin into coal, Dark as corpses but cluttered with gold. They will label you thieves, wolves, and whores but you are nothing less than angels, cast down and covered in black.)
Boy, you went and made a sweet wreck of my soul, and Ive already forgiven you.
Her dress in streams into her hands where she
Was stitching on the flesh hed left
In sections on the carpet near a bed that
Never slept while she was sleeping
In her clothes that he had laid with on
The floor with all his fingers crossed
In hoping that that distance
Wouldnt grow.
But how it grew,
And how it hurt,
And how it hallowed every memory hed
Never felt was threatened by a thing the world
Could conjure up to kill them, but he let it kill them
What a bunch of fools we lovers are.
And now shes smiling, with her self put back together, just a shadow of the past before the war.
All sewn together, like a city sick from storms and sick of waiting for a god to call the floods out of her home.
what a bunch of fools we lovers are
when tempted by the taste of flesh.
"pathetic little child, i am embarrassed for you."

ahhhhhh. such a good song.

I absolutely love this song. I think the deeper meaning in it, (which maybe mines different then yours, but I’d love to hear if anyone has anything different) that a relationship was ruined by impurity. That maybe they weren’t quite mature enough to handle a physical relationship, he destroyed her and she forgave him but refused to take him back. I think he’s saying they were young, had sex(or some kind of intense physical thing going) and out of all the things that would destroy their relationship it would be the physical; I think he knew that it could happen, and he kept his fingers crossed and hoped for the best… but it slowly ate at him, and destroyed her, and he let it; not out of aggression or any negative emotion towards her, but maybe a bit for his own pleasure, he wanted all of her.. and didn’t really stop to think what it would do. So eventually she put herself back together and fixed things for herself, but wont take him back. I love the line “what a bunch of fools we lovers are, when tempted by the taste of flesh” because its so true. We are so overwhelmed by our bodies that its hard to control ourselves long enough to realize (or care) how things will affect us. The last lines, I think its some outside force (maybe God, or any amount of evil) basically laughing in his face how he failed, how he was ignorant to realize, that he stole her virginity(making him a thief and a whore) but appearing so good. Those are just my thoughts on the song though.. I’d love to hear someone else’s interpretations!

I'm gonna break down the song part by part.
And blood was running down Her dress in streams into her hands where she Was stitching on the flesh hed left (Gruesome way of representing her loss of virginity possibly? If anything, a sexual encounter.)
In sections on the carpet near a bed that Never slept while she was sleeping In her clothes that he had laid with on The floor with all his fingers crossed In hoping that that distance Wouldnt grow. (Obvious, he had hoped that this wouldn't ruin their relationship, that it'd bring them closer.)
But how it grew, And how it hurt, And how it hallowed every memory hed Never felt was threatened by a thing the world Could conjure up to kill them, but he let it kill them
What a bunch of fools we lovers are.
And now shes smiling, with her self put back together, just a shadow of the past before the war. All sewn together, like a city sick from storms and sick of waiting for a god to call the floods out of her home. what a bunch of fools we lovers are when tempted by the taste of flesh. (We are. Sexual desires drive everything. He feels guilty for what he's done.)
"my boy, you are nothing more than a thief and a whore in a suit of the finest of armor." laughed the vulture. "pathetic little child, i am embarrassed for you."
Again, the guilt. Driven by the taste of flesh, broke this poor girl's heart.
Pretty simple, guys.

Crows, wipe the blood from the end of your claws. said the vulture, Lets gather like storms for the war. Crows, as the night turns its skin into coal, Dark as corpses but cluttered with gold. They will label you thieves, wolves, and whores but you are nothing less than angels, cast down and covered in black. Interpretation: Crows are society and the friendliness of society. Vultures are those in society who lead everyone to point and laugh. The couple in question were only doing the action because they thought they were ready, but they were laughed at by society and it ruined their relationship.
Aint this the bloodiest mess in the world? said the virgin, a torn little girl. Boy, you went and made a sweet wreck of my soul, and Ive already forgiven you. Interpretation: They had sex; She was a virgin; She blames him for the society laughing and bashing her; something like this had happened in the past and she had forgiven him.
And blood was running down Her dress in streams into her hands where she Was stitching on the flesh hed left In sections on the carpet near a bed (Loss of virginity possibility of heart being torn out of chest/heartbreak) that Never slept while she was sleeping In her clothes that he had laid with on The floor with all his fingers crossed In hoping that that distance (Distance of the lovers being close) Wouldnt grow. But how it grew,(Grew further apart) And how it hurt,(heartbreak on his side) And how it hallowed every memory hed Never felt was threatened by a thing the world(Possiblities of cops?) Could conjure up to kill them, but he let it kill them What a bunch of fools we lovers are.(Thought of being ready is in question, but its too late) And now shes smiling, with her self put back together, just a shadow of the past before the war.(She moved on) All sewn together, like a city sick from storms and sick of waiting for a god to call the floods out of her home. what a bunch of fools we lovers are when tempted by the taste of flesh. (Truth, we are influenced by flesh, sex, love, romance, and other actions)
"my boy, you are nothing more than a thief and a whore in a suit of the finest of armor." laughed the vulture. "pathetic little child, i am embarrassed for you." (again, vulture is a leader of society that is pointing and laughing as the crows feed, but now the vulture is just shaking his head in shame of the boy because the pointing and laughing is getting old) Possibility of the boy being a boy a player, just being good with words and promises for love;sex;etc

ok well i don't think it's about rape i think it's about a couple who (i believe this has been mentioned already) became physical and it kinda sounds like the girl was sort of unwilling but they carried on and it turned into a long distance sort of thing, something was keeping them apart and to me i feel like he cheated on her while he was away he was a thief because he took her virginity he was a whore because he stepped out on her
either that, or it was the girl who cheated on him i'm not really sure where i stand on this thought really, since the vulture is the one calling him pathetic and a whore but when i look at the lyrics and it says he hallowed every memory of them and how she smiled and put herself back together (ie moved on from him) it could be saying he's a thief and a whore both for taking her virginity but the vulture said he's pathetic and that it's embarrassed for him and that could be because she moved on from him and slept with someone else which makes him quite pitiable
sometimes when i listen to it i feel like it's the man's "fault" their relationship failed, but other times i have to blame it on the girl
also can someone fix these lyrics? it's hard to read the lyrics straight up and the interpretation can just be put with everyone else's in the comments so it's easier to understand :)

I think this song is about rape.
A little deeper I would think that it's a relationship where the female had no desire to have sex, and the boy forced himself on her, until he finally snapped... Pretty crazy stuff, gotta love La Dispute though
