What Neaera are saying in this song is that mistakes, flaws, all the bad things ("wounds") are not negative in every aspect ("won't kill me"). Rather, the existence of bad creates the opportunity to learn from it and become better ("they'll make me grow inside / I will try to use them"), thus leading to good. From Neaera's point of view, this is a honorable process ("wear my scars with pride").
As such, this song promotes experientalism. Let the bad come ("let the tempest come"), it will bring good in the way that we will learn from it.
Accordingly, bad is not inherently bad ("won't take my lust for life"). It is by keeping the good in view and by the use of "solace, love, courage, grip" when experiencing "fear, failure, hurt, wrath" that we become stronger and thus achieve the ability to survive in a world of survival of the fittest.
In a way, this is similar to Tim Harford's talk on TED about "Trial, error and the God complex". If this is of major interest to you, you should check it out.
