Oh, maybe you should make a list for me of everything important in this world.
In a note of urgency cause I don't know how to feel.
Or maybe you should stay a mystery and I know you as well as anyone else.
And you will appear the same to me cause I don't know how to feel.

Oh, careful now you'll hurt yourself.
Careful now, you'll hurt, you'll hurt someone else.

Oh, maybe you should make a list of me of everything important in this world.
In a note of urgency cause I don't know how to feel
I threw everything out that doesn't make sense to found a thousand more things that don't make sense.
And I can't help but get lost in a fault like this when I don't know how to hide myself in open air
Where I'm all alone, alone, alone.

Oh, careful now, you'll hurt yourself.
Careful now, you'll hurt, you'll hurt someone...
Careful now, you'll hurt yourself.
Careful now, you'll hurt, you'll hurt someone else.

maybe you could make a list for me
of everything important in this world/
    in order of urgency
    'cause I don't know how to feel/

or maybe you should stay a mystery
and i'd know you as well as anyone else/
and your will would be the same to
    'cause I don't know how to feel//

    (chorus repeated)
    careful now, you'll hurt yourself
careful now, you hurt somebody else//

maybe you could make a list for me
of everything important in this world/
    in order of urgency
    'cause I don't know how to feel/

    i threw everything out
    that doesnt make sense
to find a thousand more thing
    that don't make sense
and I can't help but get lost
    in a fog like this
when i don't know how to
hide myself in open in air
    where im all alone.

General CommentAaron Marsh said in an interview that this song was written as a letter to God when he was doubting, trying to tell God to leave him alone.

General Commentsorry, i'm thinking and typing two different things. what the comment above was suppose to say was: i too have heard that this song is about God and Aaron when he was upset with God, trying to figure things out. I love it, it's one of my favorites. I can relate to it very much.

General CommentHe's asking God to either leave him alone, or be shallow and easy to get along with. He just want God to make a list for him of to-dos, rather than insist on the whole relationship that God wants to have with his children. He realizes that he doesn't always know right from wrong, that's what he means by "I don't know how to feel." Then when he says "Careful now, you'll hurt yourself" and "someone else" he's talking to himself I believe, saying "you don't know what you're asking for."
My favorite part is "when I don't know how to find myself in open air, where I'm all alone." He's talking about the confusing parts of religion "things that don't make sense." And the open air is something new to him, he's so used to shallow religion. At least that's what I see, and I relate mightily to this song.
