Keep my eyes shut, and we
Are moving backwards
And that I owe, anyway.
But when I wake up,
Drifting forward
Smoke the weekend away.

Images of fire
Sail away while your still sane
And cards and rags wash away again.

Keep my eyes open for a while,
Moving forward
Pressed into the roofline.
And I'll I've laughed at is this beautiful sound
Spins our lives around.

Images of fire
Sail away while your still sane
While cards and rags wash away again.
Sneak away while your still sane
(Yeah, yeah) You lose your self again.

This was as closely as I could approximate the words. There was no lyrics website and a lot of them not spoken very clearly, so some of this is probably wrong. But it's an awesome song anyway.

I think this song is not about anything specific. It's is a sort of escapist reverie, judging by the chorus, and the rest is vague references and memories, in my opinion.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
