We live in a glamorous mansion
with naplam in the walls.
Waterfalls fall like intestines from
flying gutted gulls.
We live in a glamorous mansion
with fast ghosts in the walls.

My bedroom window looks out on
crucified orange groves.
Frail fingers in our five-course food.
Biblical rains when the midnight
maids strip nude.

When the fire's chewing up your
walls where you gonna go?
Nooses hung from the stars tell me
yes or no.

Nausea shreds your head.

Would you rather be homeless or
dead?
When your floor's foaming at the
mouth where you gonna run?
French windows passing out
drinking all night long?

Nausea shreds your head.

Would you rather be homeless or
dead?
Will you look back?
Will you hesitate to leave all your
posessions behind?
Will you look back?

Or are you going to sink with the
ship and say everything's alright?
Are you gonna jump, jump, jump
out the window or burn, burn, burn
with the furniture?

Obviously this song is about that fleeting emotion and spir-of-the-moment event of a house burning down. Will you hesitate to grab some belongings or, fuck it, I'd rather be alive. Would you rather be dead or not have possessions?

On an elementary level that's a fine observation. It's more about today's society and our obessions with material possessions. Because there are people in this world that would rather burn with all of their stuff then to live with nothing.

yep xantiro is right. its about peoples obsessions with materialistic things nowadays. it kinda gives it away in the last line "are you gonna jump out the window or burn with the furniture" the beginnings about how like people buy worthless expensive stuff theyll never use just because its brand name and how theyll blow off 3 million dollars on a house thats hollow and empty as well as their minds. some people would rather be put on life support until their stocks go up and are worth a million bucks than die in peace, and its just stupid.

'Yr' was a gimmick crafted by the band, so no, it is indeed 'Yr' and not 'Your'.

I wonder if the title is a reference to the influential hardcore/crust punk band Nausea, who were known for abandoning materialism and heavily involved in the squatter punk movement.

Maybe I'm crazy, and I do sometimes think too deeply into a simpler message, but I thought this was about more than just material possessions.

We live in a glamorous mansion with naplam in the walls. Waterfalls fall like intestines from flying gutted gulls. We live in a glamorous mansion with fast ghosts in the walls.

I thought this was representing things that seem perfect, but in the back of your mind, you know they're really hurting you.

My bedroom window looks out on crucified orange groves. Frail fingers in our five-course food. Biblical rains when the midnight maids strip nude.

I thought these two verses were representing things that seem perfect, but in the back of your mind, you know they're really hurting you. I mean, do frail fingers and intestines really sound good?

When the fire's chewing up your walls where you gonna go? Nooses hung from the stars tell me yes or no.

The meaning I got from this verse was "When these short-time pleasures are destroying your life, are you gonna stay with them for the temporary comfort?"

    Nausea shreds your head.

I'm not really sure what this lines supposed to mean, all the fake happiness is making you go insane maybe? I don't know.

Would you rather be homeless or dead? When your floor's foaming at the mouth where you gonna run? French windows passing out drinking all night long?

Pretty much the same meaning as the last verse, except one part. "Would you rather be homeless or dead?" Meaning would you rather stick with your shitty habits and be "dead" never able to fix your problems OR would you rather do something about it even if it means you have to rebuild your life.

    Nausea shreds your head.

Would you rather be homeless or dead? Will you look back? Will you hesitate to leave all your posessions behind? Will you look back?

Will you hesitate to leave your formal life? Because if you do you're gonna end up falling back into it.

Or are you going to sink with the ship and say everything's alright? Are you gonna jump, jump, jump out the window or burn, burn, burn with the furniture?

Are you gonna take the risk? Leave everything behind for a better life? Even if it means temporary discomfort?

I could be way off, but that's my interpreation of it.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
