This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
We're smokin' that Danger Girl.
We're smokin' that Gen 13.
Bong's called Yoda, man,
and Yoda can't a bag filled with stems and seeds.
Yo, I can't stand no ecstacy.
Cocaine made a mess of me.
Beer and booze are now things that I use to do.
Don't misconstrue, I'm still abusin' weed.
Some kids like to get fucked up,
actin' black by rollin' them blunts.
I got a one hitter called Margot Kidder
and I only need to hit that shit once
'cause I ain't made of nickels and dimes.
Fat kind make me tickled inside.
Say no to cuttin' up lines,
that's one-point-twenty-one jiggawatt jive.
And I ain't no Nancy Reagan,
just sayin' kinda take it slow.
Say yeah to the jazz cigarette,
say nil to the thrills of pills and blow.
Teen years about gettin' beat down,
and your twenties 'bout smokin' them pounds.
Stick around for the sticky amounts,
flick a Bic 'til your stuck to the couch.
I'm the sativa cyborg,
I smell that shit like a wine cork.
I hope they never legalize,
then High Times won't have anything to fight for.
I used to smoke with kids at shows,
but I stopped 'cause they all had colds,
but I got Emergen-C and a bag of Coldeeze
and mad trees so let's all get stoned!
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
After a show, you're a friend of mind,
handshake with a prize inside.
These are Batman Begins hallucinagens.
These whammies are weaponized.
LSD and shrooms, I tried them,
was a time when I wouldn't deny them.
All you need is one trip where you lose your shit,
kiss goodbye to the sky with diamonds;
but I keep coming back like it's Atkins fat
'cause the weed's like crack cocaine,
but the risk you take is just getting baked,
you're surely gonna see the next day.
They say we fund Al Qaeda.
Sounds like the government's jealous.
Let's get the enemy stoned,
bring our ninjas home - to hell with Christian zealots,
'cause all we need is some weed and a laid back beat,
black lights if you stereotype,
couple bean bag chairs and a lack of airs,
a marathon of price is right.
What's the 4-1-1 for realzies?
I freeze my Reese's Pieces.
It's like everytime I pack a pipe,
my appetite suddenly increases.
You know what a cracka mean,
green leaves my cractorbeam,
addicted like it's gasoline, just pass the trees
while I live that cracker dream,
but I might have to cease my deeds.
I might have to take control
'cause I ain't down with little mc
growin' up in a cloud of my second-hand smoke.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.
Weed is by my side, it's always been there.
Always been there, always been there.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
<3 Sucha love song. I know whatcha mean, Mc Chris!
Wowwy-wow-wii-wow! I love the beat so much; can't get it off repeat.
when i saw the title, i thought this was going to be a song about the Wii, but after the first line i knew better.
Good song. phat beat, wonderful rapping as always. thanks mc

stoked because I get to see his show in one week.
I really like the very last lines
but I might have to cease my deeds. I might have to take control 'cause I ain't down with little mc growin' up in a cloud of my second-hand smoke.
As respectable as I thought mc chris was before, the fact that he's having second thoughts about bringing up a child around weed just further proves how awesome he is. I don't have any reservations against weed, but at the same time it's cool to see that mc chris wants to be a good parent...kay I probably read into this WAY too much, but that's just my two cents.
Nah, you aren't reading too much into it, that's exactly what he's sayin. He realizes if he gets high all the time when he has a kid he'll be a bad parent. he also doesn't want his kid to smoke when he's still a kid, but chris knows that if he sees his dad doing it all the time he'll want to do it to. that's why this song is so great, it's about gettin fucked up, but doing it responsibly. most stances are on either extreme - it's either "drugs are bad" or "drugs are great". it's nice to see song with a more realistic, middle of the road viewpoint
No, you are both reading waaaaaay too much into it. It's the last four lines of the song, and I see it kind of like the end of Half-Baked - he doesn't want to stop smoking, but he knows he has to because there is something he wants more.<br /> <br /> This song is not about "gettin fucked up, but doing is responsibly." The last few lines are the ONLY part of the song where you could get that kind of message, and those lines don't negate the rest of the song. This song doesn't have a "middle of the road viewpoint" - it CLEARLY advocates smoking weed, and smoking weed quite a bit.<br /> <br /> Personally, I see as almost a "love song" to marijuana. I mean, the chorus is "Weed is by my side, it's always been there" for christ's sake - It certainly isn't about "enjoying weed responsibly."
"Yo, I can't stand no ecstacy.<br /> Cocaine made a mess of me.<br /> Beer and booze are now things that I use to do.<br /> Don't misconstrue, I'm still abusin' weed."<br /> <br /> "LSD and shrooms, I tried them,<br /> was a time when I wouldn't deny them.<br /> All you need is one trip where you lose your shit,<br /> kiss goodbye to the sky with diamonds;"<br /> <br /> "And I ain't no Nancy Reagan,<br /> just sayin' kinda take it slow.<br /> Say yeah to the jazz cigarette,<br /> say nil to the thrills of pills and blow."<br /> <br /> He's repeatedly talking about using caution when doing drugs. The song is definitely a tribute to weed, but unlike most pro-weed songs he's not saying drugs in general are harmless or that weed can't be abused. It's not just a straight up pro-drug song, there's clearly a lot of space between this song and Three 6 Mafia saying "I gotta stay high till I die"
Choosing weed over drugs IS getting fucked up responsibly. There's nothing dangerous or physically addicting about weed. In fact, alcohol and cigarettes are even considered major drugs by the drug community. This song is just about how much he loves it, which is completely understandable. <br /> <br /> So basically him smoking weed is being responsible to an extent.
I LOVE this song soooo much.
"Say yeah to the jazz cigarette, say nil to the thrills of pills and blow."
