Oh my god
What have we learned?
Oh my god
We’re doomed from the start
Oh my god
What have we learned?
Oh my god
We’re doomed from the start

Its time to admit we’re wrong and move on
Kick our habits self improvement
Is anyone getting nervous?

WE SHOULD ALL BE AFRAID TO DIE

I don’t care as long as we… as long as we get there get there…

Fought, you fought and you got what you want out of me
Caught, don’t get caught you’ll be fucked if you know what I mean

Are you scared you can’t tell me what your life’s about?

Thought provoking, it’s all we need
It’s all we want…

The fear of god in us in all of us

General CommentReligious people (especially Christians) death-centered life and inability to admit the lack of evidence for the existence of their god.

General CommentWe should admit we were wrong, we're all living life in a way that we're going to kill ourselves in the end. We should kick our habit of relying on saviors and promises of a heaven after this life. We need to save ourselves by making this place better, because after all, we should all be afraid to die.

General Commentthe main theme of the song (i believe) is fear, mainly concerning life's purpose/religious beliefs with the afterlife. Many of fear before's lyrics are about the singer's uncertaintly and or disbelief in god. and this song is for the most part saying, the people that believe in god only believe in him because with a belief so intense as christianity, you can make excuses to certain unanswerable questions. like the meaning of life. christians say, its to live god's will. he says, no thats not the reason, and if u didnt have a "god" you wouldnt kno the reason.

the ending line is powerful. like when i first heard it and knew what he was saying, chills went down my spine. Hearing him scream it live whilest giving the sky (the idea of god id assume) the middle finger. Because we all have a fear of god. Whether its a fear in the sense that we try to act good as to aviod the wrath of god, or the fear that god doesnt exist. and all the speaker is doing, is saying fuck it, im telling you your god is just something you use for your daily excuses whether u kno it or not.

personally i dont kno whether i agree with him. I was batized catholic, and have been going to catholic and christian schools since 3rd grade (im currently a senior). I never really questions catholosisms beliefs until around early last school year, and as of now i am in a state were i couldnt tell you what i believe. I would hate to be an atheist, because that belief statement just seems so depressing to me. But alot of the things and beliefs of a god, or even the supernatural cant nest in my mind. I am searching for an answer, one i fear ill never find.

But this song is trying to tell me that god is bullshit and by living under him you live in fear. I think i live in fear now more than i did when i called myself a catholic.

General Commentdoes anyone know anything about David's religous upbringing? I don't mean to be nosey, but he seems to have alot of demons, and i'm kind of glad he does, or we wouldn't get these punishing songs.

General CommentThe funny thing is, the band thanks God in their comments on "its odd how people shake"...However, art damage then provokes the thought of disbelief and uncertainty in "the god awful truth" of anykind of higher being. Then, we come to the always open mouth, with songs filled with disbelief and hatred towards god. Why? I don't know, dave is aa fucking weird person period and kind of an asshole.

Dave seems to not really have a problem with god, maybe christians in general, but this kind of music seems to be filled with the hte of christianity. No one touches anyother religions at all. Why? personal vendettas and stupid bullshit like that.

Either way, there is something we are missing about dave and maybe fear befores background. Me, atleast I know what I know what I believe. in. There is a god, but it is illogical to search for him and provide evidence for something we cannot see, hear, touch...We will meet him on the otherside one day.

Song MeaningThis song is an anthem for the "fear" of God in all of us. (Yes, all of us!) Nobody however hard they try can deny God's existence. If it didn't exist there would be nothing to question. This song is saying we're all living our lives based on how we think God percieves us, whether we admit it or not, it's the god-awful truth. This song took a lot of guts to write, and is in fact a Gift, for "Fiction."
