Give it a rest and then try it again with more soul
Until you learn that clearing your heads'
The same as losing control in this space
Don't let it drive you crazy
Don't let it drive you insane there's no point
Because you just keep turning us on and turning us off
And on and off and on
Until we're light as a feather and we're stiff as a board
Light as a feather and we're stiff as a board
Give it a break cause if you try it again you'll get bored
Because you don't really know where it starts
But you know that it ends with no friends
Cause even this is a test and I'm sorry if it breaks your bubble
But you still need some rest because it's gonna go
It's gonna go
On and on and on, on and on and on, on and on and on
Until it hurts
We will go
On and on and on, on and on and on, on and and on
Until it hurts

keep turning us on, and turning us off
You keep turning us on and turning us off (x5)

this song can be applied to just about anything with how open ended it is. it could be an addiction to something with people telling the addict to stop doing what hes doing.

it could be about someone with ocd, with the "turning us on and turning us off part" about the light switch explanation of ocd, the person with ocd that keeps turning the light switch on and off

it could be about a perfectionist, possibly with a instrument, who thinks that he can still get better, and it seems to his friends that its cool at first, turning us on, and then it pushes his friends away, turning us off. the instrument could also be driving him insane because he thats the only thing that he does, and he thinks that taking a break to clear his head is bad.

his friends may have also lost trust in him, light as a feather. stiff as a board is a trust activity where one person is lifted by a few others on their back and has to stay stiff to be lifted. idk how that fits with the song though

Watch "around cape horn" by captain Irving Johnson. It might not be what the Bronx were on about but it fits perfectly. 4 hrs on 4 hrs off, soul destroying work trying to sail a ship around cape horn. Freinds die on the trip etc etc. Bludy good watch anyway

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
