When they all come crashing down-midflight
You know you're not the only one
When they're so alone they find a back door out of life
You know you're not the only one

We're all grieving
Lost and bleeding

All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me

So afraid to open your eyes- hypnotized
You know you're not the only one
Never understood this life
And you're right I don't deserve but you know I'm not the only one

We're all grieving
Lost and bleeding

All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me

Don't look down
Don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you
Don't look down, you'll fall down
You'll become their sacrifice
Right or wrong
Can't hold onto the fear that I'm lost without you
If I can't feel, I'm not mine
I'm not real

All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me

first of all, this is off a website:

"The song is about some of my experiences as a teenager with close-mindedness. I thought the people around me seemed lost in a world that I really didn't belong in. It's kind of spiritual."

I'm not a Christian myself, so I'm sorry if I seem a little bit off. For me this song describes how I see Christians. But I also think it's sung from the point of view of a Christian, or someone who wants to convert to Christianity.

"When they all come crashing down- midflight you know you're not the only one when they're so alone they find a back door out of life you know you're not the only one"

The Christians are in emotional turmoil of some sort, and they turn god as a means to get through it or get away from their suffering.

"We're all grieving lost and bleeding"

Just saying that everyone, no matter what religion, are in some sort of pain.

"All our lives we've been waiting for someone to call our leader."

Saying that the Christians or Christians-to-be have always wanted someone to turn to in times of crisis, and they found that in god and jesus.

"all your lies I'm not believing heaven shine a light down on me"

To me this seems like a Christian is noticing that they are starting to question the bible and all the teachings of their church and such, and it freaks them out because they don't want to stop believing or else they won't be saved.

"So afraid to open your eyes- hypnotized you know you're not the only one"

The Christians are so afraid of seeing or believing other ways to view the world that they simply shut their eyes to it (srry if u find that sentence offensive). And the speaker again knows that he/she is not the only one who is like that.

"and you're right I don't deserve but you know I'm not the only one"

The Christian knows they don't act as a Christian should and sins so much that they don't deserve god, but they know they're not the only one who doesn't deserve him.

"Don't look down don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you don't look down, you'll fall down, you'll become their sacrifice"

The Christian is telling themself not to get enveloped in the world, or else they will fall into sin or not believing and not make it into heaven.

"Right or wrong, Can't hold onto the fear that I'm lost without you. If I can't feel, I'm not mine. I'm not real."

They're saying that whether Christianity is right or wrong, they're going to stay faithful just out of fear of being without god or jesus.

again, srry if anyone finds this offensive, but this is wat i think the song is describing. and it kind of applies to amy, cuz she isn't exactly a model christian.

I thought a similar thing 'Death is hereditary' ...

"When they all come crashing down- midflight you know you're not the only one when they're so alone they find a back door out of life you know you're not the only one

We're all grieving lost and bleeding"

Its like she's just heard of someone else committing suicide (finding a back door out of life) and she realises she's not the only one that feels that way, everyone feels depressed every now and then (we're all grieving and bleeding) the rest of the song goes in a slightly different tangent but still on the same basic lines

Everyone is wrong about this song.

    Btw, the album is great.

This song is not about Muslim terrorists that will die for hundreds of years to come. No, it's not about 911 and looking to Bush as a leader. Although that is a interesting point of view. But I don't want to spend yrs and yrs thinking about greiving and bleeding at the hands of terrorists... they will not win.

No, I'd rather know that my government is killing State-less, radical, muslim - islamic terrorists across the globe. Just the truth... I do have free speech , yes?

This song is about the coming of Christ. The second coming of Christ will come and he will take his followers while he will leave the others behind... At this time he will judge all...

How can he do this... well, when I think of the coming of Christ I think beyond 3-D. Here on earth we most likely think often of 3-D and we see in 3-D. In math class we talk about 1-D the number line and 2-D the X and Y axis... Well when you think of Christ and God think of something like, say, 10-D... 20-D

We can't see in 4-D, and if you can then you must be smoking something pretty powerful...

Anyhow, the song is talking about planes falling from the sky as Christian pilots are removed from the pilot's seat, corporeal matter and all.

The lyrics also say that the Christians will not look back toward the earth where they might become a sacrifice.

    The specific lyrics...

Don't look down don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you don't look down, you'll fall down, you'll become their sacrifice right or wrong can't hold onto the fear that I'm lost without you if I can't feel, I'm not mine, I'm not real

There are some lyrics there that talk about someone not going to heaven, maybe a boyfriend... "I'm lost without you".

Your not the only one... that would be the Christians realizing that they are not the only ones in this world - because with all the secular people Christians often think they are alone.

One moment in the song she says she doesn't deserve Christ... sounds like Paul from the Bible...

The is one part that talks about not believing the lies of a secular person, evil or say some demon.

I've always considered myself very good at deciphering songs, and never come across a song I can't figure out... until now. I'm sure I'll get it, but this one isn't easy.

As for those of you insulting this CD... Amy herself said she's going to lose some old fans and gain new ones with this CD because the style is a little different. Personally, I think this one is even better than the first.

This is a special song. This song is one of Evanescences best songs on their new album and it's tought me so much!I belive that this song is saying your not the only one/your not alone.Like say if you said, "my life is the worst ever"! You wouldn't be the only one to say so,and there are people who have probobly had worse than you.The first part of the song says:

When they all come crashing down- midflight you know you're not the only one

What I think it means is very Obvious. The whole thing is a story, but a story of FACT and meaning. This is a story that I made for an example of the meaning so chill out: Say your on a plane and it starts crashing down midflight, but your not the only one who's on the plane ("When they ALL come crashing down").Then the next part:

When they're so alone they find a back door out of life you know you're not the only one.

You died on the plane including everyone else who was on it.Your family and other people's family's heard about it and felt great greif for their loved one/ones,and they probobly feel like you left them behind and feel alone.Well I don't know about you,but when I'M alone for too long I feel depresed and too much of that makes you want to find "A back door out of life" which the only thing that could mean is dying cause it's just the only way out.I know that alot of people think about suiside, and It's never only you who thinks they're the only one. Then it's:

We're all grieving lost and bleeding

All the Familys went to their loved one/ones funeral and they were all grieving("Were ALL grieving") Then it's:

    lost and bleeding

some family's felt that even thought there loved one/ones died they're still there. And when A spirit still roams earth it is said to be that their spirit its lost between Heaven and Hell. And I really could go on forever explaining this but i'd think you'ed get the message already if you don't still understand leave me a message saying a part you don't quite get.A summary of this whole meaning to the song is:

    YOUR NOT THE ONLY ONE.

this song tought me that no matter how different you think you are inside we all feel the same way about things, even though we seem so different. I love Evanescence for teaching me things people could only reallyy truely understand when they're adults welll that's what they think.I'm 12 years old and I understand more than I should I'm not saying that Im smart cause i'm NOT,but i cant understan I know why people Kill I know why they Choose to be Gay i know why they commit suiside and I respect their reasons.I just Understand...

You are all wrong.. this is sad.. this page is an example of what she is singing about and no its not disgusting religion. But instead the otherworld, she sings of how she tires of mediocrity, how a savior will arise on this plane, on this plane humans presume to know all just because they see with their beady eyes. She sings of being free. It would be called spirituality, truth. It's the ugliness of this page right here that is maddening that makes me feel like I'm in a cage here.. the blindness is overpowering. Her song is speaking to all those who are alone in the same way but yet see that same beauty, that same freedom, angels has something to do with that beauty but she is speaking of the entirety of the otherworld, there are no details, no explanations, no excuses, no reasons, that is why it is beautiful, all feelings no thoughts. Her song is speaking of that beauty, even the darkness can be beautiful.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
