I saw your mom the other day
She says you're running every way
Her little words sick like the flu
I see the things they do to you

She better cut it out
You better cut her out
You better cut her up
You'll have no other god before me

I saw you with your friends
Shooting shit by Budserly Lights
You've got so much life inside you
They drag you down till you can't move
They better cut it out
You better cut it out
You better cut them up
You'll have no other god before me

On your knee, on your knee, on your knee is me
Lucky you, you found me
What'd you do, what've you've seen, what'd you feel for me?
And my love is so, you want to kill your friends
I've seen you waiting for your dreams,
Them comatose and there I'm seen
There's something good inside of you,
but god can't fill you like I do
You better cut it out
You better cut him out
You better cut him up

You'll have no other god before me
You'll have no other god before me
You'll have no other god before me

Thou shalt not worship false idols
You want to kill your friends
Thou shalt not worship false idols

I think the concept of the album X is kind of brilliant; why it would be a good idea to break the ten commandments, so that each song relates to a different commandment. This one of course is referring to "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

It just really bugs me that I can't find their albums anywhere else but their website. Ah well.

The only downer is the duet with B. Molko! I prefer this song with Kristeen's vocals ONLY! Also the duet with fall out boy was nothing but a downer (the guy cant sing) but on the other hand Kristeen's SOLO take on that song Blew me Away :) I have it on my mp3 player and listen it like 10 times in a row!

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
