I count my foot steps one by one up your drive way to your front porch,
I tell myself "there's no turning back now, ths is it, no you cant turn and run"
I'm knock-knock-knocking on your door swallow what pride I have left,
tonight is the night of our last disunioned dance,

don't smile for me and tell me everything will be just fine,
emancipate me from this strangle hold you have on,
how I feel about everyone around me,

tell me, tell me, all your stories, tell me, tell me, all your lies,
come on you know I need this make me feel like everythings alright,
shield me from what you do on weekends, shield me from what you do those nights,
don't be ignorant and act like you dont know I'd kill to be him,

dont smile for me and tell me everything will be just fine,
emancipate me from this strangle hold you have on,
how I feel about everyone around me,

dont try, dont try, to convince me that,
we can stay friends 'cause obvious,
you know, you know, we will never be the same again,
and you know I'd never lie to you,

hey 'window shopper' I've pissed puddles with more depth then you,
yeah go on cry those tears you know I love the sound,
when you bear your ears to these words I hope you choke,
on your words of "I love you"
oh what a fucking joke,

don't smile for me and tell me everything will be just fine,
emancipate me from this strangle hold you have on,
how I feel about everyone around me,

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
