This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
She came to me
Whilst times were low
And smiled at me
Through eyes of stone
We danced and laughed
It's all so cold
Like wingless insects
Born to crawl
We climbed in vain
Destined to fall
Into graves
A broken soul
Now nothing's left
Except my hate
Oh which I leave
To one and all
Whilst times were low
And smiled at me
Through eyes of stone
We danced and laughed
It's all so cold
Like wingless insects
Born to crawl
We climbed in vain
Destined to fall
Into graves
A broken soul
Now nothing's left
Except my hate
Oh which I leave
To one and all

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
oh carousel, it's child enchanting, but has a very evil,.. sociopath side to it. i see two lovers kissing & playing, but in the end i see a lonely man dressed in a grey old-tailored suit on a rainy day..visiting the abandoned amusement park. he's probably a widow also now..
Douglas has written a few bitter lost love songs - but this one is a Patrick Leargas song. (One of a small handful of DiJ numbers that sound like New Order - hmm, I think New Order were accused of you-know-what too, weren't they?!)
