It's pretty to hear the things you say
You’re pretty to watch at all
And as I suffocate I'll serenade you with
Suffering with songs I can't explain
And who sold out more, tell me now,
And who said this place is getting restless
And this place is growing more bizarre, like your eyes
Becoming everything, everything
I see when I look at you and your machines, that will speak everything the opposite of
I hope you feel the same way

Starlight in the back of my head
Do you know I use it to wake up, do you?
Ghosts of you that hide away
I’ll use you to wake up

Raise and wave your hands too fast at the villain from Hades ends
I miss the way it was simple, I miss you being simple
So speak to me in words that I can't understand and I'll say you're beautiful
The black outlines your starting points get blurred by everything green like your eyes
Becoming everything
So look a little dizzy for me when you sing your song
I just want you to be the way I want you and no that’s not the same way

Believe me now, I know you well
And far be it from me to save you from this hell
And wanting to keep you away
Just brings you closer and closer to me
I need your starlight in the back of my head
Would you know I use it to wake up, do you?
Ghosts of you that hide away, hide away
I'll use you to wake up, to wake up

This is such a pretty song. "This place is growing more dark, like our eyes Becoming everything everything I see when I look at you and your machines that will speak" I think this means about somebody who listens to what other people tell her to do

"Starlight in the back of my head Do you know I use it to wake up, do you? Ghosts of you that hide away I’ll use you to wake up"

Perhaps he has given up on life, the only reason he wakes up in the morning is for her.

I adore this verse. This, like most of evans blue songs, is a love song. I believe that its talking about outside facotors changing somebody he loves and things becoming complicated, hence the verse "I miss the way a simple harness, you being simple"

"I just want you to be the way I want you and no that’s not the same way Leave me now I know who you are Far be it for me to save you from this hell"

Maybe she didnt turn out to be the person he thought he knew and hes trying to change her?

"And wanting to keep you away Just brings you closer and closer to me"

Ahh now this is a lyric i can closely relate to. For me it means that maybe he thinks he isnt good enough and only wants the best for her but every time he trys to get over her he just likes her more.

Im really surprised that nobody has commented this yet it is a pretty song

my favorite song from the E|B demos

the lyric is actually "I miss the way it was simple, I miss you being simple." I know it's hard to hear but if you listen closely you can tell. Matisyn uses that same line in one of his blogs too,

and then "...and I'll say 'you're beautiful in black outlines...'"

yeah, im pretty sure its not "I miss the way a simple harness, you being simple"

It's "I miss the way it was simple, I miss you being simple"

its probably one of my favorite verses of the song, that along with "I just want you to be the way I want you, and no thats not the same way"

    Matisyn's words are amazing.

Lots of errors in the initial lyrics. Hopefully now the song makes more sense. And yes, it's an amazing song.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
