Sever.
And step forward.
I will separate myself from you.
I will walk this line unassisted and undeterred.

Sever.
Sever the strings.
I’ll cast aside your focus shifted too much for me to not question.
Your sincerity.

To manufacture misery.
Everything you ever wanted.
Everything you ever knew.
Everything yo ever lust for will be taken from you.

Your reflection.
Ghost of a beauty queen.
Plagued with fashion.
And stain our mouths with worthless deception.
You’re a plastic perfection.
We’ll burn you to the ground.
Everything you ever wanted.
Everything you ever knew.
Everything you ever lust for will be taken from you.
Everything you ever knew.
Everything you ever lust for will be taken from your heart.
When did this all become so meaningless?
As to your second skin.

Now the wolves become nothing more that sheep.
We set flame these apathetic trends.
Set flame the paths that have led us astray for to long.
Set flame the paths that have led us astray for the last time.
Burn.

All bets are off.
I’ll watch the heartless burn.
Tomorrow dawn will be alight with our burning bridges.
All bets are off.
I’ll watch the heartless burn.

Tomorrow dawn will be alight through seasons change I’ve watched you waste away.
Shed your skin and become.
Reach inside your chest and remove what’s left of your blackened heart.
Through the seasons change I’ve watched you waste away.

And become one with the damned.
You lust for.
Reach inside your chest and remove what’s left of your blackened heart with disdain.

i can't belive that no one has commented on this song yet. it has the best melodic intro ever. this song is so uber good in makes a droplet of urine come out every time i listen to it. anyhoo onto the meaning. i think this song focuses on the singer saying about how some one he knew and had a relationship with (most possibly a girl freind) has become something that he dispises most likly through a change in trends. by saying "Now the wolves become nothing more that sheep." i think he is refering to how this person he once liked has changed from an individual whom used to pray on the the rest of societies 'sheep' into one of the very people whom they once prayed on. and now the singer basicaly hates them. it is the classic case of a song lyricaly based on hypocricy and how it sucks.

in all this song is one of parkway drive's best.

    Woah only 2 comments?

"Now the wolves become nothing more that sheep" That lyric really stands out to me. I think the wolves, could possibly be referring to 'lone wolves', that turn into nothing more than people who follow meaningless trends.

Ahh so excited seeing them this October!

I think this song is about Winston losing his faith in Christianity when he realizes how corrupt it is and that it serves no purpose.

I can't believe there's not many comments. I freaking love this song.

Everything you ever wanted. Everything you ever knew. Everything you ever lust for, will be taken from you.

Best part of the whole song, I reckon. Parkway are awesome.....

This song is amazing, and I would expand upon that, but I'm short on time and here for another reason.

Kirkrod, I say this with no offense intended. It's just the unimportant opining of a worn down, arbitrary, angst-ridden clichè of a man.

I understand this song may offend you, if only by your interpretation of it. Words only have the solidity they do because of the meanings, feelings and hidden meanings we filter them through. Words are inert. Dead. In-and-of-themselves.

With a song, no matter how SEEMINGLY blatant obviousness of the meaning, we can only fully understand what the writer cares to share. And even then our certainty of fact is dictated by the subconcious/concious thoughts and feelings of the writer coming out in his or her work.

    reality is perrception.

    corollary:

what we percieve as reality IS reality.

That goes for the whole anti-christian/anti-religion INTERPRETATION as well.

ok people... for one... this song is definatly not about a girl or a relationship.... it may very well be about christianity, but my take on it is that it is about this modern day scene we are seeing and about how we need to "burn all paths that have lead us astray" and just be who we are not what others say... and texas cries i see where you are coming from but i think it means... the people who "started" the trend just now follow anything new

I agree with throttled, seems like this is a anti-religion song. This is a great song.

"Now the wolves become nothing more than sheep."

By wolves I think he meant people who follow their own rules, and have there own priorities. People who don't just go along with what people tell them to believe.

This song could be about being "pussy-whiped" as they call it. Maybe he had a mate who suggested "ill let a girl control me when hell freezes over" hence the becomming name of "a cold day in hell". His mate who said he's never let his girlfiriend control his life, then realized that he has. "now the wolves become sheep". And because he has, it's posibally a negative thing. It could posibally even be relating to marriage, and the cliche of sex ending in marriage: "everything you ever lust for will be taken". Also, a lot of typical males make comments like "it will be a cold day in hell before I get married!"

Its very anrgy sounding, but that doesnt mean that it is that!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
