Same town as it’s ever been
If there’s changes somewhere
They’ve occurred from within
Streets pass and hold up to me
Every corner defined
By the places you’d be

But no one is watching you now
No one is watching you now
Like I did

Even the longest of days
You could make disappear
By the look on your face
We used to drive into town
And the eyes of the girls
Followed you all around

But no one is watching you now
I know no one is watching you now
Like I did
Forty-eight hours pass
And I’m longing to stay
Forty-eight hours pass
And watching you, watching you
Is ages away

Something has torn me apart
Oh but what do I care
About watching my heart
I know that sadness bleeds through
And my sadness for me
Is now sadness for you

‘Cause no one is watching you now
I know no one is watching you now
No one is watching you now
Like I did

General CommentOnce in love with Amy—always in love with Aimee ….
The town didn’t change—a parallel universe was simulated in the center of it so yes, the changes occurred from within.
And still—no one is watching you now like I do.
Good thing, since you are my guardian angel.
Which most people think don’t exist …
And why is that? Certainly everyone has an angel. Why are the other angels so quiet and low-key?
They aren’t. It’s just that no one else is blabbing about their angels like you are.
And I have flapping lips … er, fingers … because why? Tell me again …
That’s another song. We’re not on that song.
    No shit.
Well, even the longest of days, you could make disappear by the look on your face..
Yeah, that deer in the headlights look is always intriguing …
Quite … And we used to drive into town and the eyes of the spies followed you all around. Seen Cher in a wig lately?
No, but that was amusing. I was delighted!
Takes so little to delight you.
    So what tore you apart?
You? What was that? Experimental therapy?
Experimental? I beg your pardon ….
First time I ever heard you beg …
I’m laughing—no one is watching you now like I do.
    I am.
    Hush … She don’t like crowds …

    Um ... the song's meaning?
Oh yeah ... Aimee musing about Michael... "Like I did.." Past tense. Jules hadn't shown up yet.
