Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:

I've been listening to Silversun Pickups for a while and some of the comments on here made me want to sign up. ;) Namely capgun and a few others.
Anyways, the song starts with him expressing that his optimism was quickly replaced by regret. "I've been waiting for this moment all my life... but it's not quite right" He's found love... or what he thinks is love and jumps into it; only to find that he's not sure if he actually HAS found love.
The next verse is him hearing the advice of others (Possibly parents / role models) telling him that love is more complex than he realizes... But he doesn't listen. "So clear yet so unheard"
"I've been waiting for the silence all night long... It's just a matter of time" He's waiting to try and truly express his love and attempt to become more intimate.
For some reason I think that the Lazy Eye has more to do with infidelities and inexperience on his part rather than the other comments I've seen on here. The Lazy eye refers to him trying to keep his attention on her but his main focus doesn't rest on her... He can only manage to keep his "lazy eye" rested on her. Possibly my own biased being a teenage boy and having experienced such a situation myself. ;)
"Everyone so intimately rearranged" Here he's noticing that noone else seems to be feeling the same way as he is. He may be feeling some guilt along with the regret - I think he isn't ready to move on with the relationship and begin to be more intimate... Because he doesn't feel that it's right when all he can manage on her is just a lazy eye.
The rest is pretty funny to me - "that's why i said I relate, i said we relate, it's so fun to relate" With this line he's showing clear regrets and saying that he basically lied to everyone else... He told people that he relates, he's been intimate, he is just like them and has no problem moving on... But of course he's lying.
"The room, the sun, and the sky..." He did it anyways. He's seeing the bigger picture of it all and goes past his inner feelings and regrets to go with the flow and avoid pressure. The ending of the song reiterates on this same idea. Very saddening. :(
