Walked all the streets in this stupid city
I'm looking for that girl
Walked every single alley feeling shitty
Cus I think she's left this world

Is she on the moon or is she on the park?
I hope I can find my baby before it gets too dark

But don't pretend that you care baby
No, don't pretend that you care baby baby baby
If you ask me if I care I'd say maybe maybe maybe
Maybe I do
Maybe I don't

Called all the stupid numbers in the phone book
But none of them knew what to do
I promise I'll be nice to all your stupid friends
I'll even be nice to you

Still don't understand why we had to be through
I know I'm always broke but you know I'll always be true

But don't pretend that you care baby
No, don't pretend that you care baby baby baby
If you ask me if I care I'd say maybe maybe maybe
Maybe I do
Maybe I don't

And if you say that we could dance again
And then you say that we could just be friends
And I know that means I'll never see you again
And I don't deny that's how it always ends

So don't pretend that you care baby
No, don't pretend that you care baby baby baby
If you ask me if I care I'd say maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe yeah
Maybe I do
Maybe I don't

My favourite Atoms song. I imagine I'm not alone in this view.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Page

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
