Honey how you gonna make it on your own?
Honey how you gonna make it on your own?
When you wake up in the night
And see the stars just city lights
And you can't find home?

You act like you don't need nobody else
And you dance like you don't need nobody else
And all the other moths need light
To circle round while you just fly
Around yourself

Oh I stir my sugar with a spoon
And watch your white dress float around the room
I try to see what you're about
But even my candles are down and out

Honey why you gotta hide your face from me?
Honey why you gotta hide your face from me?
Will I starve in this eclipse while you treat every hungry kiss
Like one more mouth to feed?

General CommentShe doesn't need light as a moth. He's trying to say he doesn't either as his candle is out. He's trying to keep her in their failing relationship but she's not interested

General CommentI think this song is about how he loves this woman so much but she doesn't feel the magic as she once did.
Like it says in the last Stanza "Will i starve in this eclispe while you treat every hungry kiss like one more mouth to feed" I interterpt this as how she doesn't want to hurt him and her kisses have become a nessasary part of hiding how she really feels but he can still see through her image.
She has become so dependant on herself and lost all ties to him, maybe without realising it, and he doesn't want to lose her. "Honey how are you gonna make it on your own?" i think this is hios way of saying that if she ever finds that she needs him he will be there for her.
He also thinks she has become selfish without meaning to but can see that she still cares, she has just forgotten how too.

General CommentThis is about a love growing apart. She is able to be completely dependent on herself now, and so she treats him like a burden. He's watching her slip away, and he thinks she may not realize what she's doing, but they part anyway. Such a heartbreaking song.
