The Truth About Cats And Dogs (Is That They Die) Lyrics
to keep myself from getting wet
oarade me around
don't let me let you down
I've got dirt on my shoe
tell me what I'm gonna do
parade me around
bring me back to life
get me off of my feet
send me a postcard
tell me a story
why are you so far
i'm cramming for nothing
i'm pushing on buttons
tell me why
you're fooling no one
make my way down the brick wall
you don't have to be there
to catch me I won't fall
but I'm fooling no one
hang in the alley
take cat naps from now on
you'll be here in the morning
just to hear me say

heres my personal take. i think you all had parts of it that were somewhat close.
she starts out referencing a recent break up.
"see how close i can get to keep my socks from getting wet" she wants to still be friends but doesn't know how close she can really get to him with out it hurting. "parade me around, don't let me let you down" sounds like she is constantly reflecting on the past relationship. and "i've got dirt on my shoes, tell me what i'm gunna do" sounds like he likes to bring up flaws she had in the relationship as well.
"give my beat box a squeeze, bring me back to life, get me off of my feet" sounds like she is asking for someone to help her out. get her out of the rut she is in because she can't stop all this up and down emotions. And the next part would make sense.
"give me a reason, send me a postcard, tell me a story, why are you so far" she goes from questioning why, to seeming as if she doesn't care she just wants to hear from him, to she wants a story about him, a deeper connection, to a confession of missing him.
Then the "cramming for nothing, i'm pushing on buttons" seems as if she keeps trying to solve why they broke up. "tell me why, you're fooling no one" is my favorite line! it's like she is pissed off at him and wants to just tell him that he can't pretend that he didn't really love her. he can't pretend that he didn't care and he can't pretend like he didn't hurt her. he's not fooling anyone cause everyone was there to see it happen.
then the next part is my favorite too! "crawl out the window, make my way down the brick wall, you don't have to be there, to catch me I won't fall" that is pure genius. when ever you get hurt you build a brick wall a mile high and she is saying she is trying to escape and take down any walls she put up. and by doing that she realizes that she can conquer anything without him. she doesn't need him any more.
and then i love so much how this song is so honest. right after she says she climbed down her brick wall she says "now i'm sleepwalking, but fooling no one" and then she explains that by saying "hang in the alley, take cat naps from now on" she really hasn't gotten over him and she is thinking about him often but she keeps it to herself, hanging in alleys where no one is around. But saying she's fooling no one, even though she thinks its deep inside her she knows it shows.
and she finishes with "sleep for days don't ever change" she is talking to herself, how she is saying in this constant sleep of never getting over him, never changing. "you'll be here in the morning, just to hear me say" it stops with that because the song starts all over again. the story never ends because she keeps going through that cycle. the next morning she and everyone else that she keep referring to will hear her do it all over again.

I'm not really sure what this song means, but I love it. I get brief little insights into the meaning, like that it might be about running away, escaping, or giving up, or even just missing someone. So I don't know.

i think its about someone missong someone, 'why are you so far' and thne i think the person like. realises they dont need that person, 'you don't have to be there to catch me I won't fall' but dont know.
it makes me happy if im in a good mood. and sad if im in a bad mood.
xx

I really like this song, ever since I heard it on Triple J breakfast radio the other day.... Anyway, I think it's about someone who maybe something bad happened to and instead of tlaking to people they are distancing themselves from people, which is why she sings "send me a postcard" she just means, talk to me and tell me whats going on.... Maybe....

I think it's about a couple that have been together and have now broken up. And they've done the whole 'lets be friends thing' but ended up being really unesscarily spiteful. He keeps on 'giving her beat box a squeeze'. she keeps on getting really angry and jealous and close, 'trying not to get herself (even though i think the lyric is 'get my socks wet) wet'. and etc.

I think this song is about being in a relationship that isn't wotking, that one person is expecting too much for the other, they want that person to be perfect so they can be "paraded around". and they're saying "you're fooling no one" because they can see that everyone else can see the cracks in the relationship. Just a theory, mind.

I think this song is about a girl who is in a relationship, but it isn't working anymore. They've drifted apart, and he doesn't love her anymore. She desperately wants him to pay attention to her, try to fix their relationship. He's sort of letting the relationship keep going, even though it's now a facade "fooling no one".
I think maybe the ending starting with "crawl out the window" is that she has finally confronted him (with teh first stanzas) and the relatinship ends. She leaves and is trying to show him she doesn't need him anymore, but she's in shock "sleepwalking" and is numb with the disbelief that it's over.
Story of my life.

btw, my theory could probably use some tweaking. I just thought that it's the basics.

i reckon this is about a girl looking for answers from not missing someone but like her bf just being like distant like kind of ignoring her and not returning her calls ets.. and she wants to know why "give me a reason, send me a postcard" i just love this song sooo much when i heard it on triple j gotta love triple j ;) anyway does anyone know where these guys are from

Ok, maybe it's just me, but...:
"crawl out the window make my way down the brick wall you don't have to be there to catch me I won't fall"
Am I the only person who just thinks "SPIDERMAN!" When this part comes on?
Great, song, Pony Up rocks! :D
