Hold me up to the brightest light
Where you've made me all but blind
And your scheming fingertips
Dance across my shoulder blades
This evening's got me feeling
Sad and I'm sickened to my stomach
Your perfect arms are more like ropes around my waistline

I only wanted to be loved by you
I only wanted to be loved by you
I'm sad and sick of guessing
For the moment when our lips meet melting
I only wanted to be loved by you

Call me out to the darkest night
Where you've left me small and shy
Your fleeting blasé kiss
Turns me into what I hate
I'm keeping what you're stealing
Sad and I'm sickened into my stomach
And you're sunken eyes deny
Every shard that you've gave
I hoped you'd say

I only wanted to be loved by you
I only wanted to be loved by you
I'm sad and sick of guessing
For the moment when our lips meet melting
I only wanted to be loved by you

Someone's been sparing out lies trying not to show their eyes
Sketching with the ghost, our boyfriends collide
Someone's been sharing out lies trying not to sacrifice
Sketching with the ghost, there's not much left inside

I only wanted to be loved by you
I only wanted to be loved by you
I'm sad and sick of guessing
For the moment when our lips meet melting
I only wanted to be loved by you

So me and your eyelids, poured out naked onto the floor
So me and your eyelids, poured out naked onto the floor

ok so I know this is almost certainly not the intent here, especially not with a song like 'Angles and Errors' from the same band on the same album, but I'm almost through reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (if you're looking to start reading her work, btw, try Atlas Shrugged first; it's definitely better), and this has Dominique Francon + Peter Keating allllll over it.

Power, I really doubt any emo retards that listen to this crap are going to pick up an Ayn Rand book. Also, I highly doubt that the emo retard that fronts this band is inspired by Francon and Keating while writing lyrics..

no emo retard but me. and you, apparently. i know, i know, i know. other than my consciously naive (so not really naive at all) interpretation above, i think this song's meaning is pretty obvious. doesn't have to be a wife, just a girlfriend. pretty sure he wanted her for the sake of showing her off, and he probably hoped he could win her love. she's using him for whatever status she gets by being with him. it's tearing him apart, all this faked attraction, and he either really is attracted or just wishes he were so that this could be an honest relationship. i'm pretty sure he just wants out now ('your perfect arms are more like ropes around my wasteline'); the sick feeling in his stomach is getting unbearable.

Taylor Swift
This song is Swift's response to the negative reputation the media has given her. "I can make the bad guys good for a weekend" - the bad guys are the paparazzi to Swift, but are good to the "player" since association with Swift immediately gives publicity. Any publicity is good publicity and Swift knows this. "You can tell me when it's over" - the tabloids rumor relationships are over before the couple announces it officially. With this song Swift is portraying the way she is portrayed by the media. It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. I applaud the brilliance in writing about how you always write about relationships. It is expected so Swift is giving the media what they want and profiting off the attention.
