A sense of love and loss, of preparing for a great confrontation. It captures the theme of the story in 'Road to Perdition' perfectly, I think. But maybe it's the high chords on the strings. It's just chilling. Then the drop into the lower, quicker beats ... definitely a sense of anticipation. Readiness.
A wonderful piece, full of so much meaning to so many people, I'd gather.
