"What If I'm Right?" as written by and Ian/thom Brown....
You'll take me on a journey
And be there till the end
It won't be an uphill struggle
On you I can depend

You promised me a dream home
With roses round the door
You'll cover me in diamonds
There's nothing I want more
And
You'll be strong
And you'll turn me on
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
You'll be true and be faithful too
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
What if I'm right?

'cos if the rain starts falling
You'll protect me with your coat
And you'll always tape the football
And let me watch my soap

You'll always be as handsome
And your weight will never gain
And when I give birth to our children
I will feel no pain
And
You'll bring me flowers
And you'll bring the showers
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
You'll say I'm thin and bring the washing in
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
What if I'm right?

You'll always keep the magic
The tender love and care
And when you need to change the light bulb
You wont hand me the chair
And when we're tired of the city
And we find a country home
You'll sell your vinyl records
And go get us a loan

You'll be my sympathetic lover
And won't steal the covers
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
You won't forsake me
Your mother won't hate me
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
You'll be strong
And you'll turn me on
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?
You'll be true
And be faithful too
But I've got my doubts and what if I'm right?

General Commenti really luv this song!!!!!!!!
to me it means that the person is in new relationship and at the start of any relationship you are filled with hope that you will stay together and everything will be good between them. but it also conveys the flip side that at the same time as being full of hope you are also filled with doubt, theres always that chance that things may not work out and it can be worrying. i think its a great tune and sums up how people feel at the prospect of becoming involved with a new partner.

General Commenti think this is about being with what would seem to be the perfect person, but shes still got her doubts and it doesnt seem right somehow

General CommentLove the song! its a real foot-tapper, and iv been playing it over and over again.
I think its an interesting song, as while the lyrics are fairly pessemistic, the music is optimistic and full of excitement.... So perhaps this reflects both sides of the coin, having doubts yet still feeling really bouncy and excited.

General CommentI'm almost certain the words are, "There's nothing I'll want for", rather than "There's nothing I want more", but I could be wrong in that.

First time I heard this song, I thought it was about someone thinking about their perfect partner and how they seem to be everything you could ever want - but she's thinking maybe she doesn't WANT perfection. Maybe you can have too much of a good thing.

General CommentI love this song. I can definitely relate to it!

I'm the kind of person who can meet a guy for the first time, and then over the next few days I'll plan the rest of our future together - I'll imagine our wedding, plan out our house and careers, I'll even imagine what our children will look like!

To me, thats what this song is about.

General CommentI agree with Rosenholz, Not only is it sometimes annoying to have too much of a good thing, but most humans have this inner instinct to liven things up, and complicate things if they are all going too well. Maybe Sandi Thom is in a relationship which is running almost too smoothly for comfort, and she is testing her lover by pushing towards thier first major argument.

Also... Has anyone else noticed that at the end, she goes doo doo doo to the the tune of "Here comes the bride"?

General CommentIt is "There's nothing I'll want for". It has the lyrics written in the booklet thingy that comes with the album.

It doesn't sound very much like "Here Comes the Bride" to me...

She expects him to sell his vynil records? 1. I'm not sure our generation owns any vynil. 2. You can't do that!

General CommentI hate this song quite a lot.

This song is on at work all the time and until a few days ago, I had no idea who sang it, but now I do. Finally I have a name to give to my misery.

Sandi Thom, whoever you are, I hope you catch something.
