I'd say this one's fairly straight forward, about a man cheating and getting caught before the wedding. Whether or not they get past the marriage ceremony, I'm not sure, but since the rice is gone one can assume that it had been thrown, but soon after, they separated. The guests left and the limo never came to use.
Apart from the lyrics, this song itself is a masterpiece. The jazzy arrangements, especially the banjo riff and AMAZING triplets at 2:52, truly shows the skill of Hornsby and his band mates.
