Do you think, think
Everything, everyone is going mental?
It seems to me we're spiraling
Out of control and it's inevitable
Now don't you think
This time is yours, this time is mine?
It's temperamental
It seems to me, we're on all fours
Crawling on our knees, someone help us please

Oh, Jesus Christ, Almighty
Do I feel alright? No, not slightly
I wanna get a flat, I know I can't afford it
It's just the bureaucrats that won't give me a mortgage
It's very funny 'cause I got your fucking money
And I'm never gonna get it just 'cause of my bad credit
Oh well, I guess I mustn't grumble
I suppose it's just the way the cookie crumbles

Oh, yes, I'm fine
And everything's just wonderful
I'm having the time of my life

Don't you want something else
Something new, than what we got here?
And don't you feel it's all the same
Some sick game, and it's so insincere?
I wish I could change the ways of the world
Make it a nice place
Until that day, I guess we stay
Doing what we do, screwing who we screw

Why can't I sleep at night?
Don't say "it's gonna be alright"
I wanna be able to eat spaghetti Bolognese
And not feel bad about it for days and days and days
All the magazines, they talk about weight loss
If I buy those jeans, I can look like Kate Moss
I know it's not the life that I chose
But I guess it's just the way that things go

Oh, yes, I'm fine
And everything's just wonderful
I'm having the time of my life
Oh, yes, I'm fine
And everything's just wonderful
I'm having the time of my life

Oh, Jesus Christ, Almighty
Do I feel alright? No, not slightly
I wanna get a flat, I know I can't afford it
It's just the bureaucrats that won't give me a mortgage
It's very funny 'cause I got your fucking money
And I'm never gonna get it just 'cause of my bad credit
Oh well, I guess I mustn't grumble
I suppose it's just the way the cookie crumbles

But I guess that's just the way that things go
I suppose it's just the way the cookie crumbles
But I guess that's just the way that things go
I suppose it's just the way the cookie crumbles

What are you talking about? None of them are judging anything. They were discussing, but not judging. You appear to me a very bitter person and I could suggest that you should go out and get help.

And as far as being 'Just fine', I think she's swaying on both sides. Like, she gets frustrated when there are things she just can't control, but other times -even though she has problems on the side- at the moment she's able to do whatever and be completely worry free about it at the moment. Sorry, run-on sentence. Then later on it comes and bites her in the butt, and she feels down again.

i love this song, I wanna be able to eat spaghetti bolognase, And not feel bad about it for days and days and days, All the magazines they talk about weight loss, If I buy those dreams, I can look like Kate Moss

is brilliant i feel its a bit satirical and all that, saying all this stupid social stuff is going on but shes still having a good time, unless that parts sarcastic

i love it though, this girl is fantastic!

This song is about the state that britain and society in general is in at the moment - "I wish I could, change the ways Of the world, make it a nice place Until that day, I guess we stay Doin' what we do, screwin' who we screw."

Basically it means we all do what we want, have unprotected sex with who we want, do drink and drugs and be violent and its seen as acceptable now. But.. its gone too far and now "We're spiralling out of control"

I think the whole song is satirical and sarcastic all the way through, i dont think she meant it when she says everything is wonderful and fine.

And I think one of the line is wrong - "If I buy those dreams, I can look like Kate Moss"

Its - "If i but those JEANS, I can look like kate moss"

If you open any woman magazine in this moment in time there will be an article on losing weight, and an half the magazine will be on how to look more like a celebrity. And its wrong, like the lyrics suggest

    this song is so pretty!

I have to disagree, i think she is being sincere in 'everything being just wonderful'. it's like even thought the world is so corrupt and has the wrong morals, etc. she accepts that is just the way 'the cookie crumbles' and she is still happy as she is.

Loooove this song. The english pop scene seems to be so much better than the US one. When I think of Lily Allen, then Hilary Duff...there's really no comparison.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
