Never understood how she could,
Mean so little to so many
Why does she mean everything to me?

Is it worth the pain, with no one to blame?
For all of my insecurities
How did I ever let you go?

Questioning her good intention
Jealousy's a bad invention
When you push on glass, it's bound to break

Even when she was defensive,
It just gave me more incentive
The more you squeeze, the more it slips away

I never walked so far on a lonely street
With no-one there for me
Is it worth the pain, with no one to blame?
For all of my insecurities
How did I ever let you go?

Accept this confession! I'm walking on pins and needles
You're not my possession! I'm walking on pins and needles
My conscience is vicious! I'm walking on pins and needles
And I'm begging forgiveness! I'm walking on pins and needles

I never walked so far on a lonely street,
With no one there for me
It took too long to see her in misery
And now it's clear to me

That it's worth the pain, always take the blame
For all your own insecurities
How did I ever let you go?

... I thought it was about something else until I read everyone else's comments. In one way, I agree with everyone else... with the whole jealousy for no reason thing... but I also see another meaning... Maybe the guy was trying to hold onto the girl too tightly, afraid he'd lose her when he had no reason to: "The more you squeeze, the more it slips away" - The more you try to hold onto something, the more you lose it. Also: "When you push on glass it's bound to break" - (The glass being the girl, represented as fragile/delicate)... he tried too hard to make her stay, she had to leave. So I think she could have left him... Tis all how you interpret it anyway. :)

I'd like to elaborate on this song because as I listened to it I came to a deep epiphony about myself. I'm the same way. This girl he is so deeply in love with, the one who is everything to him, whom he revolves his life around, is the very reason for his unhappiness. It isn't her fault, he doesn't see how controllign and possessive he is, he just assumes she should act the same way as him. He gets jealous over every little thing, but not over the actions, but the intentions, always doubting that she loves him. Always jealous, and always needing the reassurance that he is the one that's on her mind no matter what.... and she does all she can to try to compromise with him, because she thinks she's doing wrong... he does anything to try to figure out what the problem is, and ultimately points the finger at her, making these accusations borne of his own insecurities and inferiority complex.... I know this all too well... and I just wanna say thanks alot to this great band who's made me come to this realization :(

    My Opinion

This has never been my favourite BT song, but it's the only one that gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. White Sparrows, Nothing To Lose and Pins and Needles are so deep.

This guy who's kind of a loner begins to fall for this girl. But, because of his own trust issues and insecurities, he decides to let her go.

Moral of the story is, don't fall for a loner. Loners are meant to be alone! Forever!

Just a little bitter, because this guy reminds me of someone. Don't care to discuss it.

    Awesome song though! Another favorite!

A guy with deep trust issues falls deeply for a girl - and because he finds her so great is worried she'll end up leaving him or cheating on him. She tried to defend herself and it just spurred on his jealousy and suspicions, causing friction and in the end he dumped her because he felt he couldn't trust her. But in the end she was being truthful and hadn't done anything to abuse his trust and he's saying you shouldn't let your own lack of self confidence and trust destroy a relationship - and he now realises he has no one but himself for ruining with someone he held dear.

clearly about a guy who just can't seem to trust this girl that he loves so he dumps her. but then he realizes she never did anything to make him not trust her and that because he is paranoid he ruined what could have been a great relationship.

he's a loser, loners are not meant to be left alone forever, people change you fucking moron. and 3wishes or whatever its probably yourself or someone who liked you that this song reminds you of. getting defensive is a good thing with girls they need to be or they arent gonna keep themselves or their partner in line,

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
