Like swinging your arms in the dark to find out how the light sits
And stepping on roads like the legs of the friends that decided to stay in
And cursing real soft to yourself and to me how am i going to get to bed
And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
We can press our hands til the fire reaches our front door

So i will keep this light lit low for you
When you stop your feet from running tired
Oh don't leave me god take me home
Oh don't leave me god take me home
We march in philistine synchronise back and forth
Saying I am waiting, I am waiting till my promise comes

Don't keep your mouth open so when you lay out on the floor
The water will fill up your throat when it falls from the firmiment
But bending again over rails with your friends only drowns out the helpfull noise
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
How long how long how long how long how long

So i will shake the boughs till you come down
Sending the birds into the airs like black fire up against the sun

Oh don't leave me god take me home
Oh don't leave me god take me home
Comes and it comes in the form of the voice he knows
Singing oh I know, I know, I know, I know, I know

Someone has said in a song we could saw off that pearly gate
So that sooner than crying the most tired wings could shake themselves awake
That kind of talk only leads us to thinking a circle on the lawn
Where only the leaves and seeds and the grass will blow
singing oh I know, I know, I know, I know, I know

So i will sing and soothe with your head laid low
Cause in your sleep i heard you crying out

Oh don't leave me god take me home
Oh don't leave me god take me home
When i first saw it i still don't think i knew
So i'm just waiting, i'm waiting till my promise comes

For some reason it feels like Arcuragi is singing about his mother and her death, partly because he has other songs that relate to the issue as well. when he sings, "Someone has said in a song we could saw off that pearly gate, So that sooner than crying the most tired wings could shake themselves awake, That kind of talk only leads us to thinking a circle on the lawn," you can feel the pain of the loss of a loved one and the difficulty of facing it at a funeral. The image that comes to mind is that of people surrounding a coffin laying over green grass on a windy day.

"So i will sing and soothe with your head laid low..Cause in your sleep i heard you crying out Oh don't leave me god take me home." i felt like Adam could hear his mother not wanting him to leave after the funeral is over because she doesn't want to leave either; she wants to go back home with him just like Adam not wanting to be left alone by his mother in the beginning of the song but wanting to be taken home. It gives me a vision of a much younger Adam waiting for his mother to come pick him up at school so that they can go home and be together.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
