I'll approach you and wait, it's been several weeks coming
and I'd give it up, give it away
to be able to tell you how I really feel
and how I'd give it up to hear you say
cause were counting the seconds and minutes weve spent here
cant seem to just throw you away
when it's all said and done dear and were packing our things
will the memories keep me thinking?

so where do we go when its all over
and will you be coming back, coming to me?

cause I've been waiting here to declare a new meaning
to feel the way I do and it just happens to be
one of the things that I'd like pretend
cause I know you cant stand
when I wake up, hold on to your hand and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough
to let go of the things that I love way too much

come to me and I'll tell you the story
of how I became the way that I became
set aside all the things that youve heard in the past
have reasons but I'm still the same.
light my way back home cause I'm feeling so alone

then theres you, I'm tired of waiting
when are you coming back, coming to me?

cause I've been waiting here to declare a new meaning
to feel the way I do and it just happens to be
one of the things that I'd like pretend
cause I know you cant stand
when I wake up, hold on to your hand and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough
to let go of the things that I love way too much

light my way back home cause I'm feeling so alone
light my way back home cause I'm feeling so alone

cause I've been waiting here to declare a new meaning
to feel the way I do and it just happens to be
one of the things that I'd like pretend
cause I know you cant stand
when I wake up, hold on to your hand and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough
to let go of the things that I love way too much

"I know you cant stand when I wake up, hold on to your hand and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough to let go of the things that I love way too much" makes me cry every time.. i'm thinking this song is about a guy who is so deeply in love with a girl who just doesn't share the same feelings back, and eventhough you want to give up, you can't.

I'll approach you and wait, it's been several weeks coming and I'd give it up, give it away to be able to tell you how I really feel and how I'd give it up to hear you say cause were counting the seconds and minutes weve spent here cant seem to just throw you away when it's all said and done dear and were packing our things will the memories keep me thinking?

The guy has a approached the girl in terms of starting some sort of relationship and he finds himself deeply in love. He is deeply in love with her and wishes to tell her how he feels and to hear her telling him she loves him back. This failure to achieve a deeper conection makes him reconsider the time hes probably wasting so he wonders if hed remember her after if he left or if hed regret it later.

so where do we go when its all over and will you be coming back, coming to me?

if the relationship ended, does she love him enough to come back to him?

cause I've been waiting here to declare a new meaning to feel the way I do and it just happens to be one of the things that I'd like pretend cause I know you cant stand when I wake up, hold on to your hand and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough to let go of the things that I love way too much

This is what happens following he break up, because he hopes that shell come back to him. Declaring the new meaning is establishing a deeper connection and hes been waiting for it but it seems like the girl doesnt really want that because she cant stand his deep loving ways.

come to me and I'll tell you the story of how I became the way that I became set aside all the things that youve heard in the past have reasons but I'm still the same. light my way back home cause I'm feeling so alone

THe first 4 of these 5 verses show his desire to open up to her and express all of his feelings and the last verse shows that he feels alone in the relationship due to the fact that she cares little for his feelings

then theres you, I'm tired of waiting when are you coming back, coming to me?

these last two verses seem to follow be following the break up, cause in the beginning he asked if shed be comming back to him, but she apparently hasnt.

This song means so much to me. It's my favourite, hands down. Especially the line; 'and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough to let go of the things that I love way too much' This song made me realise that I couldn't force myself to try and enjoy something I wasn't enjoying, so I packed up and left uni.

well, since I'm a big fans of a book titled "Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger, I'm 99% sure this is a song inspired by that book...

    Great song, though.

anyway, "time traveler's wife" is about love story between a woman and a man who's a time traveler. The saddest part of the story is that man can't control his "gift" of travelling time and place. You got what I mean? He could just gone in a blink of eye, even when they're holding hands together.

This inability, and the disappear of the man in a long long time, made the woman sad. Very very sad.

    A beautiful love story, indeed.

"I'll approach you and wait, it's been several weeks coming and I'd give it up, give it away to be able to tell you how I really feel and how I'd give it up to hear you say cause were counting the seconds and minutes weve spent here"

    Every minute counts for them.

"come to me and I'll tell you the story of how I became the way that I became set aside all the things that youve heard in the past have reasons but I'm still the same."

In this story, sometimes the man that later approach the woman, is a man from the past, that didn't know anything about the life of the woman he was leaving all along.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
