There's no sight she'd rather see
Than poor old broken hearted me

I never been the kind of man
To let a woman change my plan
But all of that was history
When she sho' nuff did this to me
Her lies they won me over quick
She ruled my mind, my heart, my dick
I took the line, the hook, the bait
And now I'm sick from what I ate and

There's no sight she'd rather see
Than poor old broken hearted me
Her mission is my misery
Poor old broken hearted me

The force of her magnetic pull
Was cruel and unusual
When she calls I wag my tail
I'm harder than a coffin nail
A pilgrim on my bended knees
I'd cross the desert if it please you
Baby treat me as you will
Yours to bless, yours to kill

There's no sight she'd rather see
Than poor old broken hearted me
So happy when I'm on my knees
Poor old broken hearted

She'll get bored of me one day
Or I'll resolve to walk away
With good intent my road is paved
I'm not sure I want to be saved

'Cause there's no sight she'd rather see
Than poor old broken hearted me
Her mission is my misery
Poor old broken heart

There's no sight she'd rather see
Than poor old broken hearted me
So happy when I'm on my knees
Poor old broken hearted me

There's no sight, no sight, no sight (you'd rather see)
Poor old broken hearted me
Her mission is, mission is
Mission is my misery
Poor old broken hearted me

There's no sight she'd rather see (no)
Than poor old broken hearted me (poor old broken)
So happy when I'm on my knees (oh your happy)
Poor old broken hearted me
(Stand by, stand by, stay)

There's no sight she'd rather see (yeah yeah)
Than poor old broken hearted me (oh oh)
Her mission is my misery
Poor old broken hearted me

There's no sight she'd rather see (oh no, no no)
Than poor old broken hearted me (she's coming, coming, coming, coming)
So happy when I'm on my knees (I'm coming, I'm coming)

Hee, i posted this one - just went to some other lyrics site.

Anyways, I really love this song, possibly my favourite trews song? I don't know. The sound is awesome, a nice shout-it-out singing song, although shouting out this song might not be the best idea because

    1. The Trews sound so good, I wouldn't want to ruin the beauty of it with my voice

    2. I never realized this until I read the lyrics, but they're pretty graphic about, umm, sex. So, yeah, it's not always the most appropriate to yell, "When she calls I wag my tail I'm harder than a coffin nail" Uhh, yeah...

I think it's basically about this guy, that loves a girl thats just using him for sex. Awesome song by an awesome Canadian band. They kick ass live too.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
