I never thought we'd come this far
But then how we come that far
And I won't let them in
'Cause she's my lover and not my friend

I'm so scared to lose you now
But so easy to lose it now
Because they're calling at my door
So I'm locking up my door

But now my thoughts are very dark
Beside my dreams are always dark
But don't let them take me away
The clouds they I want me to stay

But be mine, oh
Won't you be mine, oh
Be mine, oh oh

Take it all outside
'Cause you don't need it
You don't need to cry, oh no
Take it all outside
'Cause you don't need me
There's don't need to cry

I never thought we'd come this far
But then how we come that far
But I won't let them in
'Cause she's my lover and not my friend

I'm so scared to lose it now
Oh it's so easy to lose it now
Because they're calling at my door
So I'm locking up my door

Oh be mine, love
Wont you be mine, oh
Be mine
Be mine

Take it all outside
'Cause you don't need it
You don't need to cry, oh no
Take it all outside
'Cause you don't need me
Don't need to cry, yeah

So be mine, oh oh
Be mine, oh, be mine

yeah i also think that..he is afraid of losing her..he loves her to bits but he knows that she could have others too, she might be rly beautiful...and he is rly surprised thats she wants to be with him, and not with an other guy...soi strying to hide her and shouts at everyone she is mine and not yours...but he also knows thats she doesn't need him..

Take it all outside Cause you don't need it Don't need to cry, oh no Take it all outside Cause you don't need me Don't need to cry, yeah

He is in an early stage of a relationship with a girl, and he really likes her, but they have just resently hooked up, so he is scared she doesn't want to be in a real relationship with him. They are in a place where it can go both ways. If she does not want to "be his" she is mad=P

Yeah, I was going to say something similar as Jenx: In an early relationship, and doesn't want to lose her, already.

i think this song is saying that he is in a relationship but he doesnt want to lose her, and he knows that she can leave at anytime but he is asking her ti stay with him and be his.

i just like how this song is so lyrical yet its simple at the same time...

i like what everyones said so far, it seems to fit. Its like this girl he has coveted and finally theyve gotten together but now he doesnt know whether she wants something serious or just to have fun. The line: And I won't let them in Cause she's my lover and not my friend

says that too in a way, i see it as you can share your friends because people have more than one friend and its fine, but you dont share lovers and hes worried she will be taken in by someone else "better" than him or something. i love the kooks, always enjoy finding more and more of their songs.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
