Two sides twist and then collide
You're calling off the guards (Am I coming?)
I'm coming through. (Am I coming?)
Adulteress conditioned to a spin cycled submission
You know, sometimes it just feels better to give in
(Sometimes, it just feels better to give in)

And it's all too familiar
And it happens all the time
All the cards begin to stack up
Twisting heartache into fine
Little pieces that avoid an awful crime
But it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)

Dull heat rises from the sheets
I'm both a patient boy
Well, and a jealous man. (Am I coming?)
But double standard of suspicion
Is remedied, oh, my blue heaven
Sometimes, it just feels better to give in
(Sometimes, it just feels better to give in)

And it's all too familiar
And it happens all the time
All the cards begin to stack up
Twisting heartache into fine
Little pieces that avoid an awful crime
But it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe
(You're safe, child, you are safe)
You're safe, child, you are safe

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe
You're safe, child, you are

Safe (safe), safe (safe)
You are safe

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe (Am I coming?)
You're safe, child, you are safe (Am I -)
Coming through?

Is this all too familiar?
Does it happen all the time?
I'm just asking you to hear me
Could you please, just once, just hear me?
More then anything you wanted to be right
Still it's you, you, it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)
It's you I can't deny

this is what i hear when i listen to this song:

there are two people who kind of have a past together, but its been on and off [two sides twist and then collide]. one of them breaks down and tells the other everything [you’re calling off the guards, im coming through]. this person has been through a lot of shit and its made his or her life crazy and almost unbearable [adulterous condition to a spin cycled submission]. By confiding in their friend, they stir up all these feelings that have been put aside, and the friend tries not to fall for this person again but decides sometimes it just feels better to give in.

the friend has always loved him or her though, and its never worked quite like they wanted. [and its all too familiar, and it happens all the time]. Every time, the friend ends up heartbroken [all the cards begin to stack up, twisting heartache into fine little pieces]. (Not sure about the awful crime. Probably refers to suicide but that doesn’t quite fit here.) But they’ll always love this person and this person will always be in the back of their mind [but its you I cant deny].

The friend tries to be patient but finds him/herself wanting this person more and more [both a patient boy, well and a jealous man]. They keep wondering if the other person will realize how great it would be if they were together for real [am I coming….through?].

The friend tries to convince him/herself that it will be ok. They hope and pray that it will work the way they want it to, but know that no matter what happens, they will always be close and it will be ok. They’re safe.

Wow, Ima first? COOL! Well, all I have to say is that I love this song! Its soo mello and so soft I really like the part that he says, "Your're safe, child, you are safe" I think its about him having sextual relations with a girl, " Dull heat rises from the sheets" and getting her pregnant, "As this tiny voice in... You're safe, child, you are safe" And how he he loves them both, "Its you I can't deny" That he loves the child but he really can't deny her and that he sticking around cause of her.

I think this song is about cheating. He is cheating on his gf with another girl, but he is still suspicious of other men in her life. Well that's what the line "My double standardized suspicion" makes me think.

just to let you know the chorus from this song are exactly the same lyrics as the breaking pangaea (fred's old band) song wedding dress

"And it's all too familiar And it happens all the time All the cards begin to stack up, Twisting heartache into fine Little pieces that avoid an awful crime, But it's you I can't deny"

hey guys sorry maybe this is makin it more emo than it really is but i tend to do that sometimes...

could this song possibly be about a girlfriend/best friend saving them from suicide??? the "you're safe child, you are safe" supports that and the combination of all the "am i coming through?"s may mean that possibly someone in heaven is waiting for him but he can't bring himself to actually do the deed...maybe because "the cards...to avoid the awful crime" don't many look at suicide as a heinous crime???

idk but wutever its about this song really speaks to me and stirs feelings that i never knew i had...i

I love this song. I have been reading through other comments about this new CD, and I have to say, I really disagree with everyone. After a few days of listenting to this CD, I love it as much as I do the last two. It has a great sound to it, there are a lot of different styles presented, and the lyrics are just as catchy.

It seems to me that it is about death and possibly suicide as well. I am anxious to hear what others have to say as well.

THIS SONG IS MY NEW FAV! It is so lush and woderful! I especially love the lines.... "And it's all too familiar And it happens all the time. All the cards begin to stack up twisting heartache into fine little pieces that avoid an awful crime But it's you I can't deny"

Wow, so beautifully wirtten... I think that this particular song is one that has many meanings, this is one of those rare songs that can take on different meanings at the samt time. THough the lines I said above, I think this is what they mean....

I think they are getting back together, making mistakes and not fixing them, but just keep moving on, having sex etc...they know they can't be together, that it's just not supposed to happen, but they keep falling in love with one another and giving into their feelings instead of parting ways like they think they should--"Sometimes it jsut feels better to give in, and it's all too familiar and it happens all the time" -------"All the cards begin to stack up twisting heartache into fine little pieces that avoid an awful crime, but it's you I can't deny" meaning that it's easier to give in again and be with one another then do what's best and break up, even though that is the hardest thing to do, so they avoid all of that pain and stick togehter as shown here"Little pieces that avoid an awful crime"....it's really a sad song, but beautifully written, one of TBS's best

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
