Let's get out of this country
I'll admit I'm bored with me
I drowned my sorrows, slept around
When not in body at least in mind
We'll find a cathedral city
You can convince me I am pretty, oh
We'll pick berries and recline
Let's hit the road, friend of mine
Wave goodbye to our thankless jobs
Drive for miles and never turn off
We'll find a cathedral city
You can be handsome, I'll be pretty
What does this city have to offer me?
Everyone else thinks it's the bee's knees
What does this city have to offer me?
I just can't see
I just can't see, oh
Let's get out of this country
I have been so unhappy
Smell the Jasmine, my head will turn
Feel like getting confessional
We'll find a cathedral city
You can convince me I am pretty
What does this city have to offer me?
Everyone else thinks it's the bee's knees
What does this city have to offer me?
I just can't see
I just can't see, oh oh oh
I'll admit I'm bored with me
I drowned my sorrows, slept around
When not in body at least in mind
We'll find a cathedral city
You can convince me I am pretty, oh
We'll pick berries and recline
Let's hit the road, friend of mine
Wave goodbye to our thankless jobs
Drive for miles and never turn off
We'll find a cathedral city
You can be handsome, I'll be pretty
What does this city have to offer me?
Everyone else thinks it's the bee's knees
What does this city have to offer me?
I just can't see
I just can't see, oh
Let's get out of this country
I have been so unhappy
Smell the Jasmine, my head will turn
Feel like getting confessional
We'll find a cathedral city
You can convince me I am pretty
What does this city have to offer me?
Everyone else thinks it's the bee's knees
What does this city have to offer me?
I just can't see
I just can't see, oh oh oh

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
Midnight
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
This is definitely one of, if not my favorite song of all time. It's just amazing.
this song deserves a comment or two!!!
you can be handsom!
handsome*
Before this, all I had really heard was "books Written for Girls" and "Eighties Fan"...I liked them, but I'd have to say that this is THE song that made me a fan.
i love this song! the lyrics are just amazing, I have to sing along whenever it's playing.
this is the best, sweetest, feeling sorry for yourself song
i live in new york city and used to think it was the greatest "the bees knees" (as does about everyone in the world i think), but as baggage and life start to add up around the place you live it's value starts to deteriorate.
this song reminds me of my best friend and i's constant philosophizing and dreaming about leaving together forever...
I fell in love with TracyAnne Campbell after seeing video to this song and "Lloyd..."
this is my favorite camera obscura song. the whole song.. and the ending is just so.. wow
Yeah, this is the song that made me fan of them too. It's a pretty catchy tune with nice lyrics (specially for a sad and feeling-sorry-of-yourself day like maud said up there ;P) i'm goin' to two gigs of 'em in the next to days and i've never seen them live before so I hope they're are gonna amaze me live like they did with the studio album.
By the way, as you'll probably know Camera Obscura has a very similar sound to Belle And Sebastian (A band which I actually like even more than this one) but the other day I knew one fact that surprised me and that explains the influence that B&S had over Camera Obscura: Tracyane's elder sister (Isobel Campbell) was a former member of that band.
For the guys who don't know B&S yet, I suggest you to listen to all of their LP's, I'm sure you'll love then even more than Camera!
