I said I'd never forget your face
Vaulted away inside my head
And memories never seem to fade
(Never seem to fade)
You were the best part of my life
(Best part of my life)
My last regret

Now I've walked this line
A thousand times before
(A thousand times before)
It hurts too much to bear
(Hurts too much to bear)
For you, I'd tear out my own heart
And write our names together

Your love is the barrel of a gun
So tell me, am I on the right end?
I could be nothing but a memory to you
Don't let this memory fade away

And in the end
We're turning on and off again
There's a look in your eye
And it's screaming goodbye
I'd hate to watch you cry
(Hate to watch you cry)

Your love is the barrel of a gun
So tell me, am I on the right end?
I could be nothing but a memory to you
Don't let this memory fade away

There's a look in your eye
And it's screaming goodbye
Now it tears me apart
Just to look at the sky
But I'd hate to watch you cry
I'd hate to watch you cry

Your love is the barrel of a gun
So tell me, am I on the right end?
I could be nothing but a memory to you
Don't let this memory fade away

"Your love is the barrel of a gun So tell me am I on the right end" oddly similar to fall out boys "my pen is the barrel of a gun remind me what side you should be on"

it's kind of fucking annoying that people are like 'oh this is about my friend __' 'alex is dating my friend ' 'i talked to alex's girlfriend and she's ___' 'this is about __, i know her'

seriously. you know that person and the first thing that you do is go to the song that's "about" them and comment on it?

i met alex at a music festival a few months ago. that must mean that (insert song here) is about me or the friend that was with me when i talked to him!

    fucking name droppers.

heytwigg, i totally agree with you. people are commenting on all the songs saying it's about them or a friend, when most likely it's not. don't believe people just cause they say they're right. only alex TRULY knows what/who the songs are about.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
