I'm such a vulnerable lad
With nothing to protect me
From your world so bright and full of laughter

I went home and sank my head into the pillow
I close my eyes and try to hear it again
To hear you laughing again

I cried in a dream
While staying at your place
I tried to talk about it over breakfast
But you made a joke out of it
And I never told you why, my my

Why didn't it seem like you were only playing with me?
I wrote you a letter on the flight home which evolved into a love poem
So of course I couldn't send it then

I cried in a dream
While staying at your place
I'm such a vulnerable lad
With nothing to protect me
From your world so bright and full of laughter

this song is so beautiful! my favorite lyrics are "i wrote you a letter on the flight home, which evolved into a love poem, so of course i couldn't send it then!', i think its one of of montreal's sweetest love songs..

This song was what got me hooked on oM. It's so sweet and honest and dark, but it still has that sense of ironic existentialist fun. a really good example of elephant 6.

This song is sad... Hes talking about a girl who wouldn't listen to him when he had a dream that he felt was important. She just made fun of him. His whole relationship had...quote: "seemed like you[she] were[was] only playing with me[him]".

He liked her very much and couldn't get her out of his head.

Line 12 shouldn't have a "why" it should be another "my" attached to 11... there were also a few other little mistakes.

What album is this from by the way? Its the mysterious song that I can't put an album with it.

I think he is depressed and she seems to not care about him, making the depression worst. Oh, I've been there.

Yeah, I feel like I he takes the relationship more seriously than the girl. She is kind of just playing with him and she doesn't really care about his feelings. I can really relate to this song.

This strikes me as a song about a boy who traveled to NYC to see if there was something between him and Julia. She didn't feel the same way he did.

My girl from NYC is Patti and the same thing happened to me.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
