"A Million Light Years Away" as written by and Timo Tapio Tolkki....
I don't know what to do I don't know who you are I'm calling from the silence
We have gone too far
I try to understand you, your life has been so cruel
Please try to see it my way I've got something to say
All those years were not in vain
Even though there was much pain I try to learn from my mistakes
I want to make it up to you
A million light years away from you
I am
A million light years away from you
I hope that you'd respect my honesty and faith and maybe you'd forgive me
If I could make you see I want to say I'm sorry
For what I did to you I'll get on with my life I hope you do that too
All the years

General CommentI think it's about a man and a woman who are/were in a relationship, and they have grown emotionally apart, and they no longer care much for each other.

My InterpretationI always took it as some sort of horrible love story. Where one person was dedicated to the other, but eventually they did something so unforgivable that they felt the only way to make it up to the one they hurt, was to get out of their life.

in the song, the person singing clearly describes basically the furthest distance away from the other that they can possibly be without making the song sound kinda silly. ( For all you people going "Oh no, he could be a billion light years away, or a trillion... ect.) Because basically they want their former love to be as far away from them as possible so there will never be a worry of bringing up the horrible thing that has come to pass.
