How Much? Lyrics

Sleep on now
I heard that a knee makes a good pillow
When your down
And do you like it
When someone tickles your arm?
Curl your locks of hair round and round

You're so tired
Let me straighten out your shirt
As your chest rises up and down

I don't get it either
But someday we'll learn
How the earth spins round and round

You need to fall
Thats what people always say

You don't know anything at all
you haven't felt the pain

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How hard should I fall
Before it's my turn to be heard.
How much pain should I show on my face
Before you listen to a word.
How bad should I hurt?
How much is enough?

You just jerked.
I hope you're dreaming.
But isn't drowning all we've earned?
I won't close my eyes till you lay still, and I won't cry.
I've been through nothing.
I haven't witnessed a full stab.
I need to experience something before I get laughed at.

You need to fall.
That's what people always say

You don't know anything at all
you haven't felt the pain

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How hard should I fall
Before it's my turn to be heard.
How much pain should I show on my face
Before you listen to a word.

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How bad should I hurt?
How much is enough?

This is my most played song on my iPod. I think it means she plays happy and caring but when she is really not happy and she's waiting for the moment to end it.

I think that she's with a guy..who's happy and go lucky..and doesn't know what real pain is..and he doesn't think she does either...and she is saying how much should she hurt before she should show him. she's saying that she is in SO much pain from her life..and past loves..and that he is continuing to hurt her by not helping her or letting her show it.

this song may have a different maybe. ...but i can totally relate it to my own life..."I need to experience something before I get laughed at."

seriously. to my baby's father.. . "How hard should I fall Before it's my turn to be heard. How much pain should I show on my face Before you listen to a word. How bad should I hurt? How much is enough?"

To me this song seems to be about this girl who really cares for her boyfriend and is always there to support him and help him through his rough times ("Sleep on now I heard that a knee makes a good pillow When your down"). But the boy doesn't seem to care about her feelings and problems, he is never there for her because he doesn't even notice the pain she shows. She doesn't know what she can do to make him see that she also needs some support ("How hard should I fall Before it's my turn to be heard. How much pain should I show on my face Before you listen to a word. How bad should I hurt? How much is enough?")

I can relate to this song...I think everyone at some point feels like no matter how much you support someone it seems like that someone can't understand that sometimes we also need a shoulder to lean on...

I think it is about a person who has never really felt real pain before but the person really wants to. People believe that this person needs to be hurt to kick the person back into place since the person always hurts others and he/she needs to know how it feels like. So this person is wondering what pain really is and so the person is just questioning it in his/her head.

im the kind of person that craves a song that describes exactly how i feel, and currently, this is it. i think its talking about how she really does care about the guy because she talks about him in a gently loving way. curling his hair with her finger tips, touching his arm, letting him rest on her knee. but she nows in her heart she cant stay with him for much longer because it hurts too much and they're relationship isn't working out. yet she feels like if she lets it go she'll be giving up the potential of something wonderful ("I've experienced nothing". she wants to hang in there to experience the love she thinks, wishes, was there. But she doesn't know how much longer she can take it. I think this is a beautiful song, my favorite meg and dia. :)
