Two sides twist and then collide
You're calling off the guards (Am I coming?)
I'm coming through. (Am I coming?)
Adulteress conditioned to a spin cycled submission
You know, sometimes it just feels better to give in
(Sometimes, it just feels better to give in)

And it's all too familiar
And it happens all the time
All the cards begin to stack up
Twisting heartache into fine
Little pieces that avoid an awful crime
But it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)

Dull heat rises from the sheets
I'm both a patient boy
Well, and a jealous man. (Am I coming?)
But double standard of suspicion
Is remedied, oh, my blue heaven
Sometimes, it just feels better to give in
(Sometimes, it just feels better to give in)

And it's all too familiar
And it happens all the time
All the cards begin to stack up
Twisting heartache into fine
Little pieces that avoid an awful crime
But it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe
(You're safe, child, you are safe)
You're safe, child, you are safe

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe
You're safe, child, you are

Safe (safe), safe (safe)
You are safe

We swing and we sway
As this tiny voice in
My head starts to sing
You're safe, child, you are safe (Am I coming?)
You're safe, child, you are safe (Am I -)
Coming through?

Is this all too familiar?
Does it happen all the time?
I'm just asking you to hear me
Could you please, just once, just hear me?
More then anything you wanted to be right
Still it's you, you, it's you I can't deny
(You I can't deny)
It's you I can't deny

I'll edit this song if needed once the cd comes next week lol.

I think this song is my favorite off Louder Now -- it's a little cliche, but i'm a sucker for romantic songs like this lol. Man.. the lyrics are so beautiful.

The chorus is directly from Fred's old band Breaking Pangea's "Wedding Dress" if you didn't know lol.

The general meaning is pretty straight forward; it's a love story! =) my favorite lol:

Both the lives of a guy and girl collide with each other, and they get involved in each other's lives in some way or another. The guy ends up being like tortured with heartache over this girl and becomes head over heels for her. All he wants is just BURST out telling her how he feels and just give in to all his feelings.

But he knows this is all just another cliched situation, and all the bottled up feelings inside begin to "stack up" on top of another, making all the heartache he feels even heavier on his heart and worse. And even so -- he cannot deny her in any way, whether it's having feelings for her or physically being around her.

In the 2nd verse, "he" refers to himself/the guy. The "patient boy and a jealous man" are all-in-one himself; he waits for her to return feelings for him every day, and in doing so he's jealous of all the other guys she gets involved with. and FINALLY, the guy gets over the fear of her not returning feelings for her and decides to tell her how he feels ("But double... is remedied, oh, my blue heaven!") and he feels enlightened lol.

The "We swing and we sway" verse basically is the nervous guy telling himself that it'll be okay, that telling her how he feels will be alright.

And finally the last verse is the guy trying to tell the girl to just LISTEN to him and give him a chance and return feelings for him; he wants this more than anything... And he finally tells her, "It's you I can't deny" -- with the story left unfinished.

There. Done. lol The end! yeah i'm a bit perky considering it's 1:30 am..

i totally agree with hplssrmantcxox clearly this song is about a boy who wants a girl but can't tell her. He experiences so much heartache but it is her he can't deny even though he wants to give up. i love the way adam sings this. there is so much emotion and it's as if you could feel exactly what he is. i can totally relate and i absolutely adore this song.

    My Interpretation

Listening to this song as an older more experienced person it feels more emotionally tied to the people you just can't seem to say no to or control yourself around. There's more than one person I've done everything in my power to distance myself from because I'd just get myself hurt again in ways far beyond a broken heart. I think overall it just feels dedicated to those people capable of wrecking you as a person.

    Song Meaning

This song is about having an affair. It’s about two people with history that can’t and shouldn’t be together, but they can’t help but give in to adultery because they can’t resist each other.

“Two sides twist and then collide…Adulterous conditioned to a spin cycled submission, You know, sometimes it just feels better to give in.”

It seems that these two people had been together in the past and now the girl is in a relationship with someone else.

“Dull heat rises from the sheets. I’m both a patient boy, Well, and a jealous man.”

The reference to sheets is post coital and he is expressing that he is willing to wait for her to leave her boyfriend, but he’s also jealous of her being with him, too.

I know from experience that love triangles are angst ridden, but sometimes, “It’s you I can’t deny.”

I can't tell if it's oF or off suspicion - i'll fix it if neccessary when the album's out in two days =D YAY.

I think Louder Now is a lot more of a darker album than their others; I was comparing the two previous albums to this one -- TAYF & WYWTB were both much, I'm not sure the best term for this?, but like poppier? Not like POP POP but like definitely more upbeat and less dark in the majority of both albums.

This album does, in fact, sound more like a rock album instead of being pigeon-holed into the whole "Emo/Hardcore/Screamo" genres or whatever.

The boys have definitely grown these last two years. Personally, Louder Now is amazing, both lyrically and musically.

i already have the cd because i pre-ordered it (and it came autographed :-D). anyway, according to the lyrics in the booklet, it's "double standardized suspicion"

Could it not be about faith? Denying it until a melting point where he understands the concept of Faith? I mean, maybe in the last verse he is talking to God, asking him if he hears himself giving in? I'm not a Christian or anything, so I'd hate to blamed for trying to insert some Christian message into it. But I'm just inserting a message about God. It could be a song that's on a larger scale than just some girl.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
