Ancient Man Lyrics
Pale child that was left behind haunts me endlessly
I can smell the churches burning, I can hear the fire's melody
And you're moving for me baby so gracelessly
Feeling like an ancient man
I got Heaven, I got Hell in my hand
I got Hell in my hand
This radiation spills from my heart
Darkness come, darkness come and darkness fall apart
Darkness fall apart
How sweet it was her teeth against my throat
I'm a ghost gone mad, an angel in the dopesmoke
Feeling like an ancient man
I got Heaven, I got Hell in my hand
I got Hell in my hand
This radiation spills from my heart
Darkness come, darkness come and darkness fall apart
Darkness fall apart
I've seen my reflection in the river and heard
Sister sky whisper to our mother the Earth
Mother Earth
I envy the night (envy the night)
For it's absense of light (absense of light)
I can smell the churches burning, I can hear the fire's melody
And you're moving for me baby so gracelessly
I got Heaven, I got Hell in my hand
I got Hell in my hand
This radiation spills from my heart
Darkness come, darkness come and darkness fall apart
Darkness fall apart
I'm a ghost gone mad, an angel in the dopesmoke
I got Heaven, I got Hell in my hand
I got Hell in my hand
This radiation spills from my heart
Darkness come, darkness come and darkness fall apart
Darkness fall apart
Sister sky whisper to our mother the Earth
Mother Earth
For it's absense of light (absense of light)

The lyriucs above are slightly incorrect. Where it says "darkness fall apart" it is actually "darkness followed by" as if to say darkness followed by darkness, followed by darkness ie: perpetual darkness. Without this important amendment the songs meaning would change accordingly.
Dax seems to say "I'm a ghost gone mad and angel let my dope some more" That what it's sounds like to me.
This is a great song.
Actually, I'm fairly confident it is "darkness fall apart." I suppose I can imagine being wrong, but his voice seems pretty clear to me.
Icepick says it perfectly: "this is a great song."
It is definitely as stated above in the lyrics. Champiodi is wrong; sorry, but it is true.
Now I envy the night for it's absence of light seems a direct allusion to Nietszche. Which would give this song an incredibly deep meaning. I'm just not sure Dax is ever that cognizant of his songs meanings...
Nietszche, deep?
