I just wanna remain an anonimity
I don't want anyone to know my face
I just wanna be another one of those jokers
Writing songs underneath the big green
Tree

(The big green tree)
Is all I need
(The big green tree)
Is home to me

You know that I'll be leaving this town tomorrow
No one seems to understand what I'm
saying
I'm leaving behind all that I believed in
I'll say goodbye to the big green...

Bum...bada dum bum...

(The big green tree)
Is all I need
(The big green tree)
Is home to me

This is definately about being a low-profile artist. He just wants to make music, and not become all famous. Hence, why The Essex Green are so indie. xD

The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
