There's an ocean out my window
There's beauty in its tears
There's an ocean out my window
It's crashing in my ears

Oh sea, your shelter
You dance between my toes
When I feel like I can't move forward
You carry me like a father

Breathing is the hardest thing I do
I'm not the only person in the room
It's hard for me, to feel like I'm perfect

the way this song was put together reminds me of the beats on 'i liked you better before oyu were naked on the internet'. just as sad, just as gorgeous.

hmm.. this song is hard to find a meaning. but basing it on the on the other songs, i think it involves family. most of the other songs were about sonny finding out he was adopted... here, i'll break it down in stages...

There's an ocean out my window There's beauty in its tears There's an ocean out my window It's crashing in my ears

having something beautiful, and then pain and truth come crashing down on you. (like a family lying to you)

Oh sea, your shelter You dance between my toes When I feel like I can't move forward You carry me like a father

he's talking about how his family (sea) has taken care of him even though he was adopted

Breathing is the hardest thing I do I'm not the only person in the room It's hard for me, to feel like I'm perfect

(best verse) saying how it's hard to feel like he's part of 'his' family... and their are many other adoptions like him(?)

it's either all that i randomly thought up, or he see's the ocean as something so pure and simple, that he can lose all his troubles in it and it's like the father he never truely had.

i dunno.. i'm known for my far-fetched meanings.

DeathByPoison gave a really thorough explaination.. i dont know.. i didnt like this song at all but the vocals were amazing. the electronic sounds in the back were so distracting. but i heard that if you play it backwards somehow, there's a hidden message in the song.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
