I remember when
I was five and you were ten, boy
You knew that I was shy
So you teased and made me cry
But I loved you

Then one day you came
You told me you were leaving
You gave your folks the blame
And made me cry again
When you said

Little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday it will surely come
Ooh, little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday it will surely come
And I'm still waiting

Ooh, I'm waiting
Ooh, still waiting
I'm just a fool
Ooh, I'm a fool
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)
To keep waiting
(I'm just a fool)
For you
(I'm just a fool)
Ooh, I'm waiting
(I'm just a fool)
I'm still waiting
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)
For love
(I'm just a fool)
For you
(I'm just a fool)

Then someone finally came
He told me that he loved me
I put him off with lies
He could see I had no eyes
So he left me once again alone
Like a child without her playmate
I had to face the truth
I was still in love with you
But you said:

Little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday it will surely come
Ooh, little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday it will surely come
And I'm still waiting

Love has never shown his face
Since the day you walked out that door
You filled my life with empty space
Come back
Can't you see it's you I'm waiting for

(I'm just a fool)
Don't you know I'm waiting
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)
I'm waiting for love
For you, I miss you
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)
I'm waiting
(I'm just a fool)
Come on back, boy
(I'm just a fool)
Come back, come back, come back, boy
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)
I need you
(I'm just a fool)
And I want you
(I'm just a fool)
That's what my friends say
(I'm just a fool)
I'm a fool
(I'm just a fool to keep waiting)

I remember when I was five and you were ten, boy You knew that I was shy So you teased and made me cry But I loved you -----> She's saying she remembers when they were young, referring to her child-hood sweet heart. But through all the teasing he gave her, she still loved him.

Then one day you came You told me you were leaving You gave your folks the blame And made me cry again When you said ------> One day he came and told her he had to leave, that him and his parents were leaving the area. And this got her upset.

Little girl Please don't wait for me Wait patiently for love Someday will surely come Ooh, little girl Please don't wait for me Wait patiently for love Someday will surely come And I'm still waiting ------> Then he told her don't wait for me, move on with your life one day you will find love. But she's saying after all this time she's still waiting for someone, but no-body compares to him, her first love.

I'm waiting Ooh, still waiting I'm just a fool Ooh, I'm a fool To keep waiting She's saying she's still waiting for him, and she's a fool to do so, but she still carries on waiting.

Then someone finally came He told me that he loved me I put him off with lies He could see I had no eyes So he left me once again alone Like a child without her playmate I had to face the truth I was still in love with you But you said: ------ > Then she finally met someone else, even though she always thought of her first love I don't what the line she has no eyes means.. but eventually the relationship broke up, but shes saying once again she feels alone without her child hood sweet heart, an she needs to face the truth she still is in love with her first love.

Little girl Please don't wait for me Wait patiently for love Someday will surely come Ooh, little girl Please don't wait for me Wait patiently for love Someday will surely come And I'm still waiting ----- > But then she's repeating to herself what her first love told her, to try to force her-self to move on from her first love.

Love has never shown his face Since the day you walked out that door You filled my life with empty space Come back Can't you see it's you I'm waiting for -----> This is a good bit, where she realizes now she's grown up, she's never seen him, and that her finding love is doomed until she is back with her first love. Now she's realizing her love for him will never fade, and she's saying come back, I can't take anymore I still love you.

Don't you know I'm waiting I'm waiting for love For you, I miss you I'm waiting Come on back, boy I need you I want you That's what my friends says I'm a fool. But I'm still waiting. ----- > Shes saying shes still waiting for him shes desperately asking for her first love to come back she wants to hold him and be with him again. She's saying I need you, I want you. my friends say I'm a fool but I don't care, I need you.

Well, you are clever ( ha ha) of course that's what it means. A flipping toddler could come up with that its so obvious but I'm laughing hardest because you don't understand the line " he could see I had no eyes" HA HA HA HA HA .... guessing you're too BLIND to see it

It's about falling in love at an early age, and comparing every man you meet with the one you first fell in love with, with no one adding up. Deep inside, she is still waiting for him to come back and love her like he used to.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
