Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
I remember when
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space
Mm-hmm, hmm
And when you're out there, without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Hmm
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly
And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice
Mm
Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you
Who do you think you are?
Hahaha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?
Well
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart
To lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember, is thinking
I wanna be like them
Mm-hmm
Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little it looked like fun
And there's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space

Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
i can't beleive nobody has wrote comment yet this song is mad
Let me enlighten everyone by explaining and assuring what this song is about. DRUGS... He's writing about his experiences with psychedelics.<br /> <br /> "I remember when<br /> I remember, I remember when I lost my mind<br /> There was something so pleasant about that place<br /> Even your emotions have an echo in so much space"<br /> <br /> He remembers when he experienced psychedelics... cuz when ur "tripping" like on ecstasy or mushrooms your emotions become feelings, you can taste music, see things that aren't there. Voices echo... <br /> <br /> "And when youre out there, without care<br /> Yeah, I was out of touch<br /> But it wasnt because I didnt know enough<br /> I just knew too much"<br /> <br /> When you do drugs you obviously don't care or else you wouldn't do them... you give it the benefit of the doubt, risking it all... he was "out of touch" with reality. When you hallucinate your not normal.... "it wasn't because he didnt know enuf, he just knew too much" He wasnt ignorant of its effects, or harmful ways... he was educated and knew exactly what they do to you... He knew too much... enough to know it was okay... but lil did he know he would get hooked.... <br /> <br /> "Does that make me crazy?... Probably"<br /> <br /> Does it make him crazy knowing all of this?... doing drugs knowing its NO good for him?... risking his life?.... Probably<br /> <br /> "And I hope that you are having the time of your life<br /> Well think twice<br /> Thats my only advice"<br /> <br /> hopes that you are having the time of your life. Hope its worth it.... cuz when your on drugs, everything is peachy... Your mind is at its most blissful state, total euphoria.... But just think twice before you do it. thats his only advice.<br /> <br /> "Come on now, who do you<br /> Who do you, who do you<br /> Who do you think you are?<br /> Ha ha ha, bless your soul<br /> You really think youre in control? <br /> Well, i think your crazy"<br /> <br /> Don't kid yourself... Who do you think you are? You think you wont get hooked? You really think you are that special to outsmart it? HA, bless your soul... poor child... thinking you can control it... thinking your not hooked... addicts dont admit it<br /> <br /> "My heroes are at the heart<br /> To the life I want to live<br /> And all I remember, is thinking<br /> I want to be like them<br /> Mmhmm<br /> Ever since I was little <br /> Ever since I was little it looked like fun<br /> And as no coincidence Ive come<br /> And I can die when Im done<br /> <br /> Maybe Im crazy<br /> Maybe youre crazy<br /> Maybe were crazy"<br /> <br /> People he looked up to.... friends, family even his father probably did drugs and it all he remembers as a child was thinking to himself... " I want to be like them" "I want to be cool" " i wanna have fun like that" and of course as he grew older he became more hungry for them... he eventually caved in... But like i said before, he's not ignorant... He KNOWS he can die off his lil habit ... He's not special, he's not immune to its effects... He can die just like many others have... to name a few: Jimi Hendrix age ( 27, Heroin); Janis Joplin, (27, Heroin); Lead singer of Nirvana Kurt Cobain, (27, Heroin) although he shot himself he had massive amount of heroin in his system... after Heroin use comes intense depression. Hence his suicidal act.; River Phoenix (23, cocaine & heroin "speed-balling"); Chris Farley (33, Heroin & cocaine "speed-balling"); Brad Renfro (26, Heroin); Jim Morrisson (27, Heroin) <br /> <br /> so thats why he says: "maybe i'm crazy?" for "using" despite he knows the outcomes, "maybe youre crazy?" for knowing what you know, "maybe we're crazy?" for knowing what we know... The answer? Probably....
This sweetlild21 person has made the exact same identical post six times in comments for this song, a lengthy ramble about how the song's apparently about drugs.<br /> <br /> Ain't it just like a druggie to see references to drugs everywhere they look, and to repeat themselves over and over? ;)
The song is about someone who is telling people he knows more than he should, but at the same time he thinks he's probably just going insane. The song starts like this, "when your out there yeah, I was out of touch, but it wasn't because I didn't know enough, I just knew too much". Then it looks like he's talking to the people (us), and he says "and I hope that you are having the time of your life, but think twice, that's my only advice", he's talking to normal people, saying your having a great time being ignorant and not understanding what the crazy person understands. Then it's "come on know who do you think you are, hahaha bless your soul, you really think your in control", again talking to the sane person saying who do you think you are, because the crazy person has realized something the sane person hasn't, and that's that he doesn't control himself, but that he's being manipulated by demonic forces, just like the crazy person. then "my heroes are at heart, to the life I want to live, and all I remember is thinking I want to be like them, ever since I was little it looked like fun, and it's no coincidence I've come, and I can die when I'm done", the crazy person wanted to be like these heroes and has now come to be like them, manipulated the entire way, and he wants to keep living "the life", and when he's done living it, he dies.<br /> <br /> The entire point of the song is basically saying were either fucking crazy, or were being manipulated and we don't even know it. And when anyone tells us whats actually going on, we brush them off as just another crazy person.
