[whistling]

La la-la, la-la la la-la
La la-la, la-la
La la-la, la-la la la-la
La la-la, la-la

Only time will tell if I'll allow the
Scenery around to eat me alive
I wanna sleep for weeks like a dog at her feet
Even though I know it won't work out in the long run

So I'll burn down the wall, breathe like a shadow
Those arms I once knew hold me like ghosts
I'll learn how to speak a forgotten language
I'll fall in the sea but forget how to swim

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

But only time will tell if I'll allow the
Scenery around to eat me alive
I want to sleep for weeks like a dog at her feet
Even though I know it won't work out in the long run

So I'll burn down to bone, breathe like a shadow
Those arms I once knew hold me like ghosts
I'll learn how to speak defeated language
I'll fall in the street as I howl at the moon

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

When anything that's anything becomes nothing
That's everything and
Nothing is the only thing ya
Ever seem to have

La la-la, la-la la la-la
La la-la, la-la
La la-la, la-la la la-la
La la-la, la-la

the line "those arms I once knew hold me like gold" isn't correct. the real line is "those arms I once knew hold me like ghosts. that first section of the song that includes the line i just mentioned is probably my favorite of man man's. its so eloquent and sad. i just saw them live, too. amazing show. made me love them even more than i already did.

only time will tell if I'll allow the scenery around to eat me alive

    Waiting something out.

I want to sleep for weeks like a dog at her feet even though I know it won't work out in the long run

What he wants to do is to be with her.

so I burn down the wall, breathe my good shadow those arms I once knew, hold me like ghost

He's thinking of her still and always, too many reminders to just get her out of his head.

I learn how to speak a forgotten language I fall in the sea but forget how to swim

He tries removes her from all aspects of life, but can't function entirely normal. He's still too attached.

When anything that's anything becomes nothing that's everything and nothing is the only thing you ever seem to have

Having nothing, but everything is the full concept of acceptance.

I learn how to speak a defeated language I fall in the street as I howl at the moon

He's not sad anymore, he's angry. He's frustrated. He feels like something is wrong, but he can't find out how to fix it. Followed by the true message again and again with added feelings, and a reliving "la la la" which in this case may symbolize closure.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

what is the wall? that is the one thing that bothers the hell out of me. I understand the meaning of the song. BUT WHAT DOES THE 'WALL' BEING 'BURNT DOWN' MEAN?? It's a great visual-emotional metaphor, but what is the wall? what is it between? what does it signify? help!

Also, does anyone now the piano chords used in the song? I wanna learn how to play it

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
