Q&A
Whetherman Lyrics
He never thought the rain would fall
Must be losing his mind
Tried to predict the weather,
but he failed this time
One look at the sky, could tell you
Oh, it's unkind
I wasen't the one to steal
The money by your side
I'm an innocent, just as those who
Turn away their eyes
I'm as lucky as I can be, I know
It feels so lonely
When it's coming down
It feels so lonely
On the naked ground
It feels so lonely
When you're fallin' down
I never enjoyed the darkness
On the bottom floor
It felt like afternoon
Even though it was morning
Well it's better than spending all your life, outside
It feels so lonely
When it's coming down
It feels so lonely
On the naked ground
It feels so lonely
When you're fallin' down
I could see you there....Oh, I could see ya there...
Must be losing his mind
but he failed this time
Oh, it's unkind
The money by your side
Turn away their eyes
When it's coming down
It feels so lonely
On the naked ground
It feels so lonely
When you're fallin' down
On the bottom floor
Even though it was morning
When it's coming down
It feels so lonely
On the naked ground
It feels so lonely
When you're fallin' down

The three little vignettes here are so mysterious...
It makes me think about street living with the themes of theft and turning a blind eye, and how even dreary living situations are better than nothing.
I also think about how precarious convictions can be, and how quickly seeing the other side can seem
The chorus is so beautiful, I revel in its words more than the summation of any type of meaning.
And the sweet, sweet ending how she points at you so sincerely, breaking the fourth wall, leaving a cliff hanger: it invokes a want for some type of personal understanding she may be offering.
Maybe this song is also about exposure.
