Something isn't right, I see it in your face
Don't try and leave me here.
"I can't be a better boy
Than the one you had before"
As the rain seeps through your aged and tired dress.

When I whisper, here me say,
"find your exit, find your exit,
Don't you want to find your exit
Because the door swings both ways".

Help me out and flash the lights so I know.
Its not my fault you're perfect in every way.
"We'll get along, we'll get along, I swear it",
Lock the door and who knows.
We might be floating on for too long.

You don't want to tell the truth
And I don't want what you have left inside.
Could I be the better one between us if I turn around and run this time.
Cursed, are the ones who tell, all the dirty deeds go on at night.
Stop, because the wolves are quickly on your trail
If you don't hide your scent before they...
Cursed, are the ones who tell, all the dirty deeds go on at night.
Stop, because the wolves are quickly on your trail
If you don't hide your scent before they catch you.

Help me out and flash the lights so I know.
Its not my fault you're perfect in every way. "We'll get along, we'll get along, I swear it",
Lock the door and who knows.
We might be floating on for too long.

I can't be a better boy than the one you had before.
I can't be a better boy than the one you had before.
I can't be a better boy than the one you had before.
For that, I apologize.

I love sullivan with a deep burning passion but sometimes their lyrics seem a bit too elusive and hardly fit in with the rest of the song. like i get that this song has a lot to do with religion (being a christian band) with sullivan saying that they r trying to make their way to perfection but it's turning out to be a bit more difficult they they thought it would be and they need someone to help them out (Help me out/Flash the lights) and he's also apologizing/whining how perfection is such a far-fetched goal and they'll never be as good as Christ (I can't be a better a boy then the one you had before) but please save me neway (Don't try and leave me here). And he is also acknowledging the fact that his exit out of all his problems and sins is to let the gosple into his life (Find your exit/Find your exit/Don't you wanna find your exit/'Cause the door swings both ways)A lot of it is him comparing himself to Christ and asking him to accept his faults (hence the: We'll get along, we'll get along/I swear just lock the door/And who knows/We might be floating on for two long) i think. But a LOT of their lines are just so random i have no idea what they mean like: As the rain seeps though your aged and tired dress, or the whole stanza about wolves. what the heck? any thoughts?

Love this song. The guy's voice is kind of...strange. But, it fits the song. I love Sullivan.

"Find your exit Find your exit Don't you wanna find your exit 'Cause the door swings both ways"

    ^Best part of the song!

Oh, and, one more thing. About the wolves: "Stop 'cause the wolves are quickly on your trail, if you don't hide your scent, before they catch you." Wolves can be looked at as demons, or some sort of thing/person after you. Maybe a person who abuses this certain guy that's singing this song. Fill in the blanks. So, you have to run and "hide your scent" so they don't catch you and hurt you because, obviously, he doesn't want to be hurt again. He's running away from this hurt and pain, trying to escape. Just a thought. And the line that says: "As the rain seeps through your aged and tired dress" ...well, dress is for a woman. So, "aged and tired"...this could mean his mom maybe. He could be talking to his mom (Notice in this line: "Something isn't right. See it in your face") who wants him to be different...maybe better than her other kids. Perfect, so to speak. But, he's saying he can't be what she expects of him. Basically, apologizing. I don't know about that line. Comments?

first off, this is a great song. it seems rather obvious that the song title is a quote from the novel IT by Stephen King, when the monster hiding in the sewer drains says "Down here we all float". this idea is supported by the music video which features children running around a house, similar to the book. Finally, a little boy near the end of the video is holding a red balloon, which is another allusion to IT. however, besides the allusions to IT, the song seems to address christian material, such as when he sings "I can't be a better boy than the one (Jesus) you had before."

I wasn't sure if the singer was a chick or a dude the first time I heard it. It's pretty Emo sounding for one thing, but the voice is also so soft and beautiful that I couldn't figure it out right off. This remains the only Sullivan song I know, but I wish to find more. Does anyone know where I can find a biography for them?

oh yeah and i think this song is more about a girl then christ hense the part about the dress, although whatever the hell jesus was wearing back in the day i would have confused it with a dress lol:P who the fuck picked his wardrobe anyways, no sense of style :) anyways he was probably talking about a girl when he said i can't be a better boy then the one you had before because jesus wasn't fucking gay and i doubt he is talking about a girl who dated jesus lmfao... but that does bring me back to my rambling... wouldn't it be funny if jesus was gay? ahha... sorry to all you christians

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
