Two in the morning and it's last call
The taste of wine
The lipstick tattooed on my collar
Yeah, and I am sober.
and the bouncers are all dead (slowly)
With a lonely kiss from the love I missed
I will drink tonight

She says "Let's put this stake right through our hearts."
To kill all the loneliness babe?
We'll never be apart
Soon we'll see the sun rise
Soon we'll see the sun again.
(I've got my best suit on!)

I'm so tired, it's
Killing me
As she slits my throat with the pen I wrote
"Civil War and 13."

Sever the letter
You love it, you need it
I can't die tonight
no, no, no, no, no, no!

And I'm still sober
And the bouncers are all dead (slowly)
with an ugly kiss from the love I missed
I will drink tonight!

She says "Let's put this stake right through our hearts."
To kill all the loneliness, babe?
We'll never be apart
Soon we'll see the sun rise
Soon we'll see the sun again

We'll see the sun
We'll fall in love (fall in love)
We'll see the sun, we'll fall in love again...
(Thanks for the memories).
Last dance with The Silence
I was so, so in love, you know I appreciate it
But I can not take it
Never, NEVER again!
I'll drink to you...

She said "Let's put this stake right through our hearts."
To kill all the loneliness babe?
We'll never be apart
Soon we'll see the sun rise
Soon we'll see the sun again

Soon we'll see the sun rise
Soon we'll see the sun again.

I was quite sad when I saw this song only had one comment. I think this is one of the best songs but thats my opinion. I thinks its about a one-night stand that he doesnt really want but he doesnt want to feel lonely anymore. Then theres the references to vampires again so Im not so sure.

The song is about meeting a vampire and falling in love-

Two in the morning and it's last call (This is him waking up from a drunken blackout)

The taste of wine (Wine is the interpretation for blood)

The lipstick tattooed on my collar (The lipstick on the collar seems to be the vampires trademark)

Yeah, and I am sober. and the bouncers are all dead (When the bouncers were alive, they may have gave the vampire, being a lady a hard time. Maybe harassment and she did away with them.)

With a lonely kiss from the love I missed (Meaning the vampire bite. Being a vampire can be very lonely thus "a lonely kiss")

I will drink tonight (Drink blood or "wine")

She says "Let's put this stake right through our hearts." (She's teling him they need to kill eachother) To kill all the loneliness babe? (He's asking to kill all the loneliness babe?)

We'll never be apart (They will be immortal and live in love forever)

Soon we'll see the sun rise Soon we'll see the sun again. (Savor the rising sun, this woll be his last time seeing it)

I'm so tired, it's Killing me (The sun will be rising soon what do vampires do during the day? Sleep. If the sun gets him he's going to burn)

As she slits my throat with the pen I wrote "Civil War and 13." Sever the letter (This is her slippin him a note, "civil war" could be a hotel room? "13" a room number?)

You love it, you need it (This is the vampire trying to convince)

I can't die tonight no, no, no, no, no, no! (This is him begging not to)

And I'm still sober And the bouncers are all dead (This is him being sober and seeing all the bouncer slaughterd)

with an ugly kiss from the love I missed (Ugly kiss- vampire bite, he fell in love with the sexy lady)

I will drink tonight! (Drink blood!!)

She says "Let's put this stake right through our hearts." (She's teling him they need to kill eachother)

To kill all the loneliness, babe? (He's asking to kill all the loneliness babe?)

We'll never be apart (They will be immortal and live in love forever)

Soon we'll see the sun rise Soon we'll see the sun again We'll see the sun We'll fall in love (A sunrise is one of the most romantic moments they will fall in love as they watch the sunrise)

We'll see the sun, we'll fall in love again... (Seeing the sunrise will make them fall in love again)

Last dance with The Silence (This is their last dance alone in "silence" now they will have eachother)

I was so, so in love, you know I appreciate it, but I can not take it (No matter how much he loves he rejects what she's given him)

Never, NEVER again! (He's saying he won't feed ever again)

I'll drink to you... (This is his last toast to her)

She said "Let's put this stake right through our hearts." (She's telling him they need to kill eachother)

To kill all the loneliness babe? (He's asking to kill all the loneliness babe?)

We'll never be apart (They will be immortal and live in love forever)

Soon we'll see the sun rise Soon we'll see the sun again Soon we'll see the sun rise Soon we'll see the sun again. (He's going to watch the sunrise with his love as they immolate together)

this song is about getting over a break-up. just look at the title. "Civil War" is the process of breaking up and "Isolation Thirst" is the need to be alone to think it over.

it isn't necessarily a romantic relationship that broke up. from looking at the line "last dance with The Silence," it could be a band breaking up too. The Silence was the band that Steve Juliano [lead singer of IAG] was formerly a member of, until they broke up.

anyway, back to what i was saying before. after this bad break up, whatever kind it may be, the person seeks relief at a bar with a woman. "With a lonely kiss from the love I missed" sounds as though he's desperate for company. all night they drink "to kill the loneliness" and tell each other "we'll never be apart."

but he doesn't really mean it. "I was so, so in love, you know I appreciate it But I can not take it" instead, he thanks her for helping him out through tough times, "I'll drink to you"

"Soon we'll see the sun rise Soon we'll see the sun again" refers to when he will be over the break-up. it isn't now during the song, but he knows someday it'll come.

the only part i can't sufficiently explain is: "I'm so tired, it's Killing me As she slits my throat with the pen I wrote "Civil War and 13."" possibly, he's tired of feeling sad and being with a person he doesn't really care about is making him feel worse, making his break-up (civil war) especially unlucky (13)?

haha, idk. i've been thinking about this for a long time.

Good meaning! Way better than mine. Haha You're right about the former band, as well other things.

"Isolation thirst" wanting to be alone, secluded.

This song, in my interpretation, is a story of what could of been a double suicide. Comparing lovers to vampires seems to be a trend carried throughIAG lyrics

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
